Medina County Residents Urged to Avoid Fireworks Under Active Burn Ban
A countywide burn ban has been in effect in Medina County since December 1, 2025, and remains active heading into New Year’s Eve. Officials say dry conditions continue to pose a serious wildfire risk.
Fire safety experts, including the National Fire Protection Association, consistently warn that fireworks can ignite grass, fencing, and nearby structures, especially in rural communities where response times may be longer.
Potranco Ranch West residents are asked to consider alternative ways to celebrate and to avoid any open flames outdoors. BBQ cooking in enclosed pits is generally permitted but should be closely supervised.

For future celebrations when a burn ban is not in effect, Potranco Ranch West residents unsure whether fireworks are allowed should review HOA governing documents and local city ordinances, as many neighborhoods prohibit fireworks even when county regulations allow limited use.
County leaders say small choices by residents can prevent large emergencies and help keep communities safe into the new year.
