FROM THE NCCIA BOARD OF DIRECTORS

MACH STEPS DOWN AS PRESIDENT, WILL STAY ON BOARD

After serving as NCCIA president for an astonishing 16 years, Don Mach has retired from that role but will remain on the Board. “It’s been really nice to serve on this Board and we have accomplished a great deal, especially seeing the increase in home values in our neighborhood,” Mach said. “It’s been my honor to serve, but it’s time for someone else to assume the leadership role.”

The new NCCIA President David Sander spoke highly of Mach’s service to the community. “Don has been a great HOA president for many years and we should all be grateful for the time he has dedicated to our neighborhood,” he said. “I’m glad he is continuing to serve on the Board to guide me through the transition. He leaves some big shoes to fill!”

SANDER ELECTED PRESIDENT OF NCCIA

At the January Board meeting, David Sander was elected president of the NCCIA. Sander has been on the Board for several years and will now also handle deed restrictions.

“Over the past few years of being on the Board, David has proven to be an excellent leader and has taken a firm grasp on deed restrictions issues,” Mach said. “I believe he will do an admirable job in his new role.”

Also at the meeting, the following Board members were elected and given their committee assignments:
  • Kristen Gilfillan, vice president, architectural guidelines, website coordinator;
  • Don Mach, treasurer, legal liaison, alleyway oversight;
  • Erin Slavik, secretary, Rennie Park oversight;
  • Heather Nordhaus, community relations;
  • Suzie Bredlau, landscaping; and
  • Allen Hess, architectural guidelines.

The Board looks forward to serving the NC community again this year. If you wish to contact a Board member, you can find the information on the Contacts page of our website: nottinghamcountry.org.

HOA FEE WELL PAST DUE

Your annual HOA fee was due by Jan. 31 . Effective February 1st, a late charge of 10 percent was added to the tab, as well as a $15 collection fee from Chaparral Management Company (for the past due notice). Additional charges will continue to accrue until you pay the fee, so please make it happen.

ODDS AND ENDS

More than 80 deed restriction violations were issued regarding fences recently. Many fences in the neighborhood are very old; some are missing pickets and some are just plain falling down. We are seeing an increase in pets escaping from yards that don’t have solid boundaries in place. Please take care of your fence if you have been neglecting it.

Please remove dead trees and shrubs; trees can become a liability issue if they are fall over (insurance companies may not cover damages if a tree has not been properly maintained). ... We will have a heavy trash day in April and we will announce the date next month and via our eblast. ... The Board voted to plant a tree at Rennie Park to honor Bob Wills, who served on the NCCIA Board for 17 years and was also on the Mason Creek MUD Board.

The Harris County Commissioners Court voted to change the boundaries of certain precinct districts. We were part of Precinct 3, headed by Commissioner Tom Ramsey, but now our area is part of Precinct 4, which is led by Commissioner Jack Cagle.
