Katy ISD Celebrates 68 Summer Graduates at 2026 Commencement Ceremony
Katy ISD recognized 68 students in its 2026 Summer Graduating Class during a commencement ceremony at the Leonard E. Merrell Center on Aug. 26.
Family members, friends, teachers, counselors, coaches and district leaders gathered to celebrate students who completed their high school requirements and are now moving on to college, careers, technical education, military service and other post-graduation plans.
The summer ceremony gives Katy ISD students who complete graduation requirements outside the district’s traditional spring commencement schedule an opportunity to formally mark the milestone with their families and school community.
“Graduation represents an important milestone for our students and the culmination of years of hard work and perseverance,” Katy ISD Assistant Superintendent for School Leadership and Support Emily Craig said. “We are proud of these graduates for reaching this moment and grateful to the families, educators and staff who encouraged them along the way. We look forward to seeing what they accomplish next.”
A milestone for students and the people who supported them
While the focus of the ceremony was on the 68 graduates, Katy ISD also recognized the families and school employees who helped students reach graduation.
For many students, completing high school involves support from several parts of the school community, including classroom teachers, counselors, coaches and campus staff. The summer graduation ceremony offered a chance to recognize that collective effort while keeping the attention on the students and what comes next for them.
The graduates now join the broader Katy ISD Class of 2026 and the district’s alumni community.
What comes next for Katy ISD’s summer graduates
The graduates are heading into a range of post-high school paths, including colleges and universities, technical and workforce training programs, careers and military service.
Katy ISD said the students’ achievement reflects the district’s mission to work with families and the community to prepare students for life after high school.
For the 68 students recognized Wednesday, the ceremony marked the exciting culmination of their Katy ISD journey and the beginning of the next chapter as they pursue their goals, dreams and chosen paths.
