Madison Named Bridgeland Campus Athletic Coordinator, Head Football Coach Â
Lonnie Madison, campus athletic coordinator and head football coach for The Woodlands College Park High School, has been named the Bridgeland High School campus athletic coordinator and head football coach. Madison replaces David Raffield, who retired following six years leading the Bears and 19 total as a head coach.
Madison has 20 years of coaching experience at the high school level and is in his sixth year of being a head coach and campus athletic coordinator.
Prior to The Woodlands College Park, Madison served as a defensive coordinator at Conroe Oak Ridge High School (2005-2008), Klein Collins High School (2008-2010 and 2014-2017), Clear Brook High School (2011-2013) and Magnolia High School (2013-2014). He was named the campus athletic coordinator and head football coach at The Woodlands College Park in 2017.
“We are proud to have Coach Lonnie Madison and his family join the CFISD athletics family,” said Ray Zepeda, CFISD director of athletics. “Coach Madison has a demonstrated track record of improving every program that he has been a part of in positions of leadership and influence. We look forward to Coach Madison building on the track record of excellence that has been established in the Bridgeland High School athletic program by Coach Raffield and are excited for him to begin his leadership journey with the Bears.”
Madison has a 31-30 overall record and two playoff appearances as a head coach, leading The Woodlands College Park to three winnings records in a four-year stretch from 2018-2021. The program won the first district championship in program history in 2020 and earned its first playoff victory in 2021. In 2020, Madison was named the District 13-6A and Conroe Courier Montgomery County Coach of the Year.
As an assistant coach, Madison helped lead football teams to three district championships, 10 playoff appearances, two regional semifinal berths and one state semifinal appearance.
“We are so excited to welcome Coach Madison to our campus,” said Michael Smith, Bridgeland principal. “We are looking forward to watching him implement his vision and leadership to continue the pursuit of excellence in our athletic programs at Bridgeland High School.”
Madison has served as a clinic speaker four times, most recently in 2020 at the Greater Houston Football Coaches Association Clinic. He was a three-year letterman on the Texas A&M University football team, helping the team win the 1998 Big XII Conference Championship.
Madison earned his Bachelor of Science in Economics from Texas A&M University. He is married to the former Leslie Olsen, a 1996 graduate of Cy-Fair High School and former standout volleyball player for the Bobcats. The two have three children.
“My family and I are excited to be joining CFISD and the Bridgeland community,” Madison said. “I want to thank Principal Smith and Coach Zepeda for trusting me to lead the Bridgeland athletic program. I am honored to have the opportunity to continue the winning tradition set forth by Coach Raffield and his staff. I am looking forward to meeting the players and getting to work. Go Bears!”
