LSC-CyFair Drama to Spotlight Trailblazing Women in Two Powerful Fall Productions
This fall, the Lone Star College-CyFair Drama Department invites audiences to step into history with two compelling stage productions that celebrate the courage, resilience, and scientific brilliance of women who dared to defy the norms of their time.
Kicking off the season, the department presents These Shining Lives by Melanie Marnich, running October 9–18 in the Black Box Theatre. This emotionally charged play, based on the true story of four women in the 1920s who worked in a watch factory painting dials with radium, explores their fight against corporate negligence after suffering radiation poisoning. Through friendship, defiance, and unwavering strength, their story continues to inspire nearly a century later.

Then, from November 6–15, the spotlight shifts to Silent Sky by Lauren Gunderson in the Main Stage Theatre. This heartfelt production tells the real-life story of 19th-century astronomer Henrietta Leavitt, whose groundbreaking discoveries helped chart the universe. With humor, romance, and scientific wonder, Silent Sky captures Leavitt’s struggle for recognition in a male-dominated field while exploring themes of ambition, family, and personal sacrifice.
These performances are part of LSC-CyFair’s Center for the Arts 2025–26 visual and performing arts season, designed to foster community engagement and celebrate diverse voices through student-driven productions. Tickets and showtimes are available at LoneStar.edu/BoxOffice.
