Lone Star College System Celebrates Women’s History Month with Panels, Film Screenings and Community Conversations Across North Houston Area Campuses
As Women’s History Month unfolds across the Houston area, Lone Star College System (LSCS) is inviting students, faculty and the broader community to take part in a series of events designed to honor the impact women have made — and continue to make — across campuses and beyond.
Throughout March, Lone Star College campuses are hosting discussion panels, film screenings, lectures, resource fairs and interactive workshops that spotlight women’s leadership, career pathways, advocacy and creative expression. For students pursuing higher education in Harris County and surrounding communities, the month serves as both reflection and momentum.
“Women’s History Month highlights the invaluable contributions of women, who inspire and strengthen their communities every day,” said Myriam Saldívar, LSCS Board of Trustees vice chair. “Through the power of education, Lone Star College System supports women by helping them get from where they are to where they want to be.”
Why Women’s History Month at Lone Star College System Matters Locally
With multiple campuses serving the Greater Houston region — including Kingwood, North Harris, Atascocita, East Aldine, Houston North and others — Lone Star College System plays a significant role in workforce development, academic advancement and community leadership across Southeast Texas.
Events tied to Women’s History Month 2026 connect directly to issues local families care about: career access in traditionally male-dominated industries, sustainability, civic engagement, veteran support services and academic success. By centering women’s voices in these conversations, LSCS is reinforcing pathways to opportunity for current and future students.
For many, the impact feels personal.
"As a student at Lone Star College System, Women's History Month feels empowering because we're not just talking about change; we're seeing it,” said Za-zil Cabrera, LSC-Kingwood student. “With organizations like the Auto Babes Foundation coming to show girls that they can be mechanics and thrive in careers that are often male-dominated, it reminds me that no dream is off limits."
