Local Sorority Chapters Help Spread Gun Safety Awareness

On June 8, 2023, the Alpha Alpha Kappa Omega and Rho Omicron Omega Chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated collaborated to host a meeting in their combined communities on the importance of storing firearms safely in homes and vehicles.
The meeting was held in a hybrid format, with an in-person audience at San Jacinto College - Generation Park and a virtual audience. Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg was the guest speaker and provided 100 free gun safes to the in-person audience. Other speakers included Edward Pollard, Houston Council Member District J; Susan Pollard, Be SMART for Kids Organization; Robyn Carrier, Karen Edwards, Brandice Pierre, and Lisa Smith-Green of Alpha Alpha Kappa Omega; and Danielle Phillips and Krystal Braden of Rho Omicron Omega.
