Libraries Present Craft Programs for Adults in September

Fort Bend County Libraries will present hands-on programs in September for crafters who would like to learn new crafts or network and share ideas with others who appreciate crafting of all types. Find inspiration, get feedback, or simply enjoy the camaraderie of other crafters during these free events.

The schedule of activities in September is as follows:
 
 

Craft Squad: Paper Quilling

Friday, September 2 @ 2:00-4:00 pm (University Branch Library)
People who enjoy crafts are invited to join the Craft Squad, where they can make new crafty friends, learn a new craft or two, and share tips, tricks, and resources with fellow crafters. The first Friday of the month is devoted to a featured craft demonstration. In September, the craft feature is “Paper Quilling.” Learn how to roll, shape, and glue strips of paper to create decorative designs for greeting cards, wall art, jewelry, and more. This program is for adults and older teens ONLY. Registration required.
 
 

Fall-Themed Paper-Wreath Craft

Tuesday, September 6 @ 2:00-3:00 pm (Cinco Ranch Branch Library)

Celebrate the Fall season by crafting a decorative paper wreath made from cardstock, old books, and a paper plate. Materials for this program are provided courtesy of the Friends of the Cinco Ranch Branch Library. Registration required.
 
 

Bob Ross Painting

Wednesday, September 7 @ 6:00-7:00 pm (Missouri City Branch Library)

Bob Ross is known for his paintings that always had an outdoor theme and “happy little trees.” In this tutorial, learn how to paint in Bob Ross’s unique style. Paint and paint brushes will be provided. Supplies are limited; reservations are required.
 
 

Craft Corner

Friday, September 9 @ 2:00-3:00 pm (Sugar Land Branch Library)

People of all experience levels – from beginners to advanced – who enjoy any type of crafting are invited to attend to get other crafters’ perspectives, critiques, and suggestions. Chat and network with other crafters who enjoy anything from art and needlework to woodwork and much more!
 
 

Craft Squad Social

Fridays, September 9, 16, 30 @ 2:00-4:00 pm (University Branch Library)

People who enjoy crafts are invited to join the “Craft Squad,” where they can make new crafty friends, learn a new craft or two, and share tips, tricks, and resources with fellow crafters. At weekly Craft Squad Socials, crafters can bring their own craft and materials to work on while networking with other crafters. The Craft Squad is suitable for adults and older teens ONLY.
 
 

Craft & Chat

Tuesday, September 13 @ 10:15 am-12:00 noon (Albert George Branch Library)

Network with other crafters online in this in-person crafting circle! Show off projects, get tips and ideas, and share experiences with others who love to craft. All types of crafters are welcome to show their work, gets tips and feedback, or learn something new! Please bring materials for your craft. This group meets monthly on the second Tuesday.
 
 

Sienna Art Club: Tassel Wall Art

Wednesday,September 14 @ 3:00-5:00 pm (Sienna Branch Library)

This monthly program is for people who enjoy all kinds of crafts. The featured demonstration in September will be on making tassel wall art, using crafting floss and a stick. Materials for the demonstration are provided courtesy of the Friends of the Sienna Branch Library. People of all ages and experience levels – from beginners to advanced – who enjoy any types of crafts are invited to attend. Bring a craft project and share experiences with others who are thinking about taking up a new hobby. Those attending this program should bring their own supplies for their craft. This club meets on the 2nd Wednesday of every month. Registration required.
 
 

No Glitter Please Craft Club

Thursday,September 15 @ 2:00-3:00 pm (Mission Bend Branch Library)

In this monthly craft club, which meets on the 3rdThursday of every month, craft enthusiasts of all experience levels – from beginners to advanced – who enjoy any type of crafting are invited to attend to get other crafters’ perspectives, critiques, and suggestions. Chat and network with other crafters who enjoy anything from art and needlework to woodwork and much more! Those attending should bring their projects and their own crafting supplies. Samples of the library’s instructional books, magazines, and websites on various crafts will be available. Crafters are invited to come and go as time permits.
 
 

Nifty Needlers

Friday, September 16 @ 12:00 noon-1:30 pm (Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library)

Needlework enthusiasts of all experience levels who enjoy any type of crocheting, knitting, or sewing are invited to attend to get other needlecrafters’ perspectives, critiques, and suggestions. Those attending should bring their own yarn, strings, and needles to start or finish a project, while chatting, networking, and enjoying the company of fellow needlecrafters. The group meets on the 3rd Friday of every month.  
 
 

Miniature Cross Stitch

Tuesday, September 20 @ 2:00-3:00 pm (First Colony Branch Library)

Learn how to use cross-stitch embroidery to create small works of art. In this hands-on workshop, learn the basics of cross stitch and then get ideas for utilizing these embroidery skills to make tiny masterpieces that can be used for décor or as a gift. Materials will be provided through the generous support of the Friends of the First Colony Branch Library. Registration required.
 
 

Origami!

Wednesday, September 28 @ 10:00 am-12:00 noon (Sienna Branch Library) 

Learn how to make a variety of whimsical shapes and figures by folding a simple piece of paper. Materials will be provided thanks to the support of the Friends of the Sienna Branch Library. All ages are welcome, but participants under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration required.


The activities are free and open to the public. Registration is required at some of the classes.
