Libby: Your Thanksgiving Road Trip Companion
This week, families across Harris County will be hitting the road to visit family and friends near and far. Whether the drive will take an hour or cover 1,000 miles, audiobooks and eBooks are a great way to pass the time while absorbing some enrichment along the way.
Through the Harris County Public Library (HCPL) system, library card holders can utilize Libby, a free app containing thousands of audiobook and eBook titles, plus magazines and more through OverDrive. With Libby, users enjoy free installation with no subscription costs, no in-app purchases, and no late fees. All you need is a valid library card from your library. Libby is used in 78 countries worldwide, and over 90% of public libraries in North America have OverDrive.
Libby makes it simple to listen when, where, and how you want. Swipe on the book cover to skip backward or forward. Increase playback speed up to 3x, or even set a sleep timer. Enjoy audiobooks in your car through Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, or a Bluetooth connection. Read eBooks on your Kindle device, or download ebooks and audiobooks for offline reading, or stream them to save space.
