Lakes on Eldridge to Host Silent Night of Mourning for Flood Victims on July 14

July 08 2025

In response to the catastrophic flooding that devastated communities across the Texas Hill Country over the July 4th weekend, residents of Lakes on Eldridge are organizing a quiet, heartfelt event to support those grieving—both near and far. A Night of Mourning will be held Monday, July 14, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Lakes on Eldridge clubhouse, offering neighbors a space to gather in silent reflection.

The event is not a fundraiser or a formal ceremony. Instead, it is a gentle gesture of solidarity for those mourning personal loss or empathizing with those affected by the natural disaster, which left homes, businesses, and lives irreparably changed.

The theme of the evening, “There Are No Words,” captures the collective heartbreak that words often fail to express. “It’s about giving people the space to grieve together, even in silence,” said Angela Morin, general. manager for Lakes on Eldridge.

The Lakes on Eldridge clubhouse will be transformed into a quiet sanctuary. Soft music will fill the room, and candles will be placed throughout to create a meditative atmosphere. A long strip of butcher paper will be unrolled for guests to write messages of support, paste photographs, or simply mark their presence with a symbol or note.

This simple but powerful visual display is intended to evolve throughout the night as more neighbors contribute their thoughts and tributes. Whether someone has a direct connection to the victims or is mourning as an empathetic onlooker, all are welcome to participate in this respectful community observance.

In the wake of devastating weather events like the Kerr County flood disaster, moments like this provide an important outlet for community connection, collective healing, and emotional resilience. These floods have sparked an outpouring of support from across the state of Texas, including grassroots efforts right here in the Greater Houston area.

As Lakes on Eldridge continues to show compassion and unity in the face of statewide tragedies, residents are reminded that grief is not something we must carry alone—and sometimes, simply being together in silence is enough.
