La Semana Alegre 2026 Returns to Hemisfair April 23–24 as Official Fiesta® San Antonio Event Benefiting Hemisfair Conservancy

February 26 2026

San Antonio’s Fiesta® season is about tradition, music, and gathering in the heart of the city—and this April, La Semana Alegre returns to Hemisfair with new momentum and deeper community roots. Now officially recognized as a Fiesta® San Antonio event, the two-night festival on April 23–24, 2026, will once again transform the Hemisfair District into a ticketed concert experience benefiting the Hemisfair Conservancy.

For downtown residents, longtime Fiesta-goers, and music fans across the San Antonio metro area, the event represents more than a party in the park. Proceeds support the Hemisfair Conservancy’s stewardship of one of the city’s most important public spaces—a year-round gathering place that anchors festivals, family outings, and cultural celebrations.

As one of the newest official Fiesta® San Antonio events, La Semana Alegre blends nostalgia with forward-looking programming, reinforcing Hemisfair’s role as a central hub during Fiesta and beyond.

A Revival Rooted in Fiesta History

La Semana Alegre builds on the legacy of the original festival, once a beloved Fiesta-era music celebration in downtown San Antonio. Its modern revival has quickly reestablished itself as a must-attend event for those who remember its early days and for a new generation discovering it for the first time.

Set against the backdrop of the Tower of the Americas and Hemisfair’s expanding public spaces, the 2026 festival will feature two stages of live music, immersive activations, local art, and curated food and beverage offerings throughout the park.

For many, it’s a reminder of how downtown San Antonio continues to evolve—balancing heritage, live music, and community investment during one of the city’s most recognized celebrations.

Thursday, April 23: 80s Night at Hemisfair

Opening night kicks off the final weekend of Fiesta® San Antonio with a high-energy tribute to 1980s new wave and pop.

Headliners include:

  • Men Without Hats
  • Bow Wow Wow
  • Tommy Tutone
  • Animotion

The Thursday lineup also features hometown favorites Girl in a Coma, New York punk outfit Surfbort, original La Semana Alegre legend Joe King Carrasco, mypilotis, and more.

The result is a dance-ready evening of recognizable hits and throwback favorites in the heart of downtown San Antonio—an experience designed to bring multiple generations together under the lights at Hemisfair.

Friday, April 24: Indie, Electronic and Latin Sounds Close the Festival

Friday night expands the sound with a mix of indie rock, electronic, and Latin-influenced performances.

Austin-based Ghostland Observatory headlines with their signature electronic rock sound and crowd-driven light show. 54 Ultra, fresh off a recent sold-out San Antonio performance, returns with his blend of synth, rock, pop, and soul.

Also performing:

  • Los Retros
  • Grammy Award-winning La Santa Cecilia
  • Mexico’s marimba-driven punk band Son Rompe Pera
  • Local acts Chavela and Pop Pistol

Together, both nights reflect La Semana Alegre’s genre-spanning programming—celebrating San Antonio’s musical past, present, and future in one of the city’s most iconic downtown venues.

Food, Drinks and the La Semana Alegre Market

Beyond the music, La Semana Alegre 2026 offers a full Fiesta® experience at Hemisfair.

Festival-goers can expect Fiesta classics such as chicken-on-a-stick and gorditas, alongside sweet treats and savory local favorites. Ice-cold Modelo—the official beer of La Semana Alegre—will be available, along with Tito’s Handmade Vodka cocktails, Big Red, aguas frescas, and non-alcoholic beverage options.

The La Semana Alegre Market returns with a curated selection of San Antonio-based artisans and music-forward vendors. Shoppers can browse vintage finds, handmade goods, original art, and locally designed merchandise between sets—adding a community-driven retail element to the festival atmosphere.

Why It Matters for San Antonio

Hemisfair continues to grow as a cultural and economic anchor for downtown San Antonio. Events like La Semana Alegre not only draw visitors into the urban core during Fiesta® season, they also help fund the long-term care of public spaces used by families, fitness groups, school field trips, and community gatherings throughout the year.

For residents who call downtown home—and for those who travel in from surrounding neighborhoods—La Semana Alegre reinforces the idea that Fiesta® is both a celebration and an investment in shared civic spaces.

The festival takes place Thursday, April 23 and Friday, April 24, 2026, at Hemisfair in downtown San Antonio. For the full lineup, ticket information, and event updates, visit lasemanaalegre.com.
