Katy ISD to Host Listening Circles for Community Input on Legislative Priorities
Katy ISD is set to launch a series of Listening Circles this month as part of its effort to engage parents, guardians, students, and community members in shaping educational policies for the district. This initiative aims to gather public feedback on state-level legislative priorities that could impact Katy ISD students and schools.
The Listening Circles are a key component of Katy ISD's broader effort to collect insights from the community ahead of the 89th Texas Legislative Session. Last week, the district began to distribute an electronic Parent & Community Education Priorities Survey. This survey seeks to gather opinions on education laws and policies, which will then inform the Board of Trustees as they set legislative priorities for the upcoming session.
The Listening Circles, scheduled for September 11, 18, 25, and October 2, will run from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at various locations throughout the district. Each session will include a light dinner and will provide an opportunity for participants to discuss and identify state-level legislative priorities that could benefit Katy ISD students.

Participants can register for a Listening Circle through the Parent & Community Education Priorities Survey. The survey will be sent to all individuals who have an email address on file with the school district. This series of events will complement the data collected from the survey, ensuring a comprehensive approach to understanding community needs and concerns.
The Listening Circles are part of Katy ISD’s commitment to fostering collaboration between the district and the community, ensuring that local voices are heard in the legislative process. The Board of Trustees encourages active participation from all stakeholders to effectively advocate for the needs of Katy ISD students.
