Katy ISD Partners in Education to Host KEYS Mentor Program Kickoff

September 01 2023

The Katy ISD mentor program, KEYS - Keep Encouraging Youth toward Success, will kickoff the 2023-2024 school year Friday, September 15, from 8:00 AM – 9:30 AM in the Leonard E. Merrell Center.  Honored guests include the district’s KEYS mentors who dedicate one hour per week to spark hope and transform lives one student at a time. Doors open and check in begins at 7:45 AM. Guests will be entertained by the Morton Ranch High School Drumline and Mariachi upon arrival.

The KEYS Mentoring program, a Katy ISD Partners in Education program, matches a caring adult with a student one hour, once a week during the school year to build a relationship, trust, confidence and more. The kickoff event will feature Houston’s own, Dr. Elizabeth McIngvale, as keynote presenter and rotating breakout sessions that offer both new and experienced mentors an incredible opportunity for conversations with district experts.

Elizabeth McIngvale, Ph.D. is the director of the OCD Institute of Texas. Elizabeth founded the Peace of Mind foundation and OCDChallenge.org (a self-help website for OCD), both now within the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF). Elizabeth was the first-ever national spokesperson for the IOCDF where she now serves as a board member and national advocate. She was diagnosed with OCD at 12 and engaged in inpatient and outpatient therapy. Dr. McIngvale engages in clinical work, research, and advocacy with the goal of improving access to care and treatment for those living with OCD.

The community is welcome to attend and join the KEYS mentor family for a morning of networking and encouragement. RSVP at http://bit.ly/KEYSrsvp by September 13 or by visiting the Partners in Education webpage under the “Community” tab at www.katyisd.org.
