Katy ISD Invites Community to Name Two New Elementary Schools Opening in 2025-26

September 24 2024

Katy ISD has announced that it is now accepting naming nominations for its two new elementary schools – Elementary #47 and #48, which are set to open in the 2025-26 academic year. These schools represent a significant part of the voter-approved 2023 Katy ISD Bond initiative.

Earmarked to be situated at 7402 Katy Hockley Cut Off Road, Katy, TX 77493, Elementary #47 is designed to accommodate 1,030 students. The school's objective is to provide relief to the enrollment pressure currently experienced by Youngblood Elementary.

Similarly, Elementary #48 will be located at 900 Sunterra Shores Drive, Katy, TX 77493 and will, too, have a capacity of 1,030 students. This school aims to alleviate the current enrollment burdens of Faldyn and Robertson Elementary students.

The community is urged to participate in the nomination process for these new facilities. Interested individuals can submit their nominations online via the Facility Nomination Form for Elementary #47 and Elementary #48. The district requests that the nomination materials include biographical or historical data, description of significant contributions, statement on why a campus or facility should bear the nominated name, letters of recommendation, and any other supplemental materials such as news clippings, photos, or other printed resources.

Submissions for naming nominations will close on October 24 at 4 p.m. Further guidance regarding the nomination process is available in the Katy ISD Board Policy CW (LOCAL) at this webpage.

For more information about the process, you can visit the School and Facility Naming webpage here. This unique opportunity engages the public in shaping the identity of the new schools, creating a meaningful link between the facilities and the community they will serve.
