Katy ISD Celebrates National Signing Day as Student-Athletes Sign Letters of Intent

Katy ISD is celebrating the incredible achievements of 51 student-athletes who signed their National Letters of Intent on November 13, 2024. These talented young athletes will continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level, representing Katy ISD across a range of sports at universities and colleges nationwide.

“Katy ISD Athletics prides itself on not just building award-winning programs at the high school level, but also on preparing our student-athletes for success at the next level,” said Lance Carter, Executive Director of Athletics in Katy ISD. “These students have been prepared academically and athletically to excel and we wish them the very best.”

The students who signed their letters of intent include a wide variety of sports, from swimming and basketball to soccer and baseball. Among the standout signees are Marley Barnard from Cinco Ranch High School, who will swim at the U.S. Naval Academy, and Connor Jones from Seven Lakes High School, who will continue his swimming career at Stanford University. Also making waves are baseball signees like Lucas Franco (Cinco Ranch High School) heading to Texas Christian University and Yarel Delgado (Paetow High School) who is off to Rice University.

“Katy ISD is committed to creating opportunities for students to excel in all aspects of their lives, including athletics,” Carter said. “We are proud of these students for their hard work, determination, and success, and we are excited to watch them take the next step in their athletic journeys.”

National Signing Day serves as a proud moment for both the students and the entire Katy ISD community as it celebrates the hard work and dedication required to reach this milestone. It’s a moment to acknowledge the collective support from coaches, teachers, and families that helped these athletes achieve their dreams.

Katy ISD’s athletics programs continue to build a legacy of success, both on the field and in the classroom, and these 51 student-athletes are proof of that continued commitment to excellence.
