Katy Gears Up for 2025 Wreaths Across America Ceremony to Honor Local Veterans
As the holiday season draws near, the Katy community is once again invited to pause and honor the lives of American heroes through a touching local tradition. On Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., Katy Magnolia Cemetery, located at 6801 Franz Rd, Katy, TX 77493, will join more than 3,400 locations across the country in hosting a Wreaths Across America ceremony.
This year’s event continues the heartfelt mission to “Remember, Honor, and Teach” by laying live balsam wreaths at the graves of the fallen. The ceremony in Katy is coordinated by local volunteers Linda Malsbary, Cindy Fernandez, and Jennifer Lowry, and will include a brief program before participants begin placing wreaths on the 575 veteran graves throughout the cemetery.
A Growing Tradition of Honor in Katy
The local Wreaths Across America event has become a moving and cherished tradition for many in Katy, bringing together families, Scout troops, veterans’ organizations, and residents from all walks of life to reflect on the service and sacrifices made by the nation’s military members.
This year, the goal is to cover 1,000 graves, and as of early December, 643 wreaths have already been sponsored. Community members are encouraged to help reach the goal by sponsoring a wreath online, volunteering to help place wreaths, or inviting others to attend. Sponsorships and volunteer signups can be made at the official Wreaths Across America page for Katy Magnolia Cemetery found here.

Why It Matters
Wreaths Across America is not just a ceremony—it’s a national movement that aims to preserve the memory of veterans and educate younger generations about the value of freedom. Unlike other holidays that honor military service, this December tradition offers a quieter, more personal moment of reflection during a season often focused on celebration.
“REMEMBER the Fallen. HONOR those who Serve. TEACH our children the value of Freedom.” These powerful words guide the efforts of the thousands of volunteers who participate nationwide, and they resonate deeply here in Katy, where local veterans are laid to rest among loved ones and neighbors.
A Call to Action for the Katy Community
Immediately following the ceremony, volunteers will begin placing the wreaths one by one, taking time to speak each veteran’s name aloud—a core tenet of the program. This simple yet profound act ensures that no veteran is forgotten and that their legacy continues through the voices of the living.
Community members are also invited to return to the cemetery on January 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. to assist with the respectful cleanup of the wreaths.
Whether you're a long-time resident or new to the area, attending this ceremony is a way to not only honor those who served but also to strengthen the bonds of community. It’s a morning that stays with you long after the wreaths are laid.
