Fort Bend County District Clerk Launches New E-Certify System for Same-Day Certified Court Documents
Accessing certified court records in Fort Bend County just became significantly easier.
The Fort Bend County District Clerk's Office has launched Phase II of its upgraded electronic document certification system, known as E-Certify, giving residents, attorneys, and authorized parties a faster and more convenient way to obtain certified court documents online.
Effective June 22, 2026, the enhanced system eliminates many of the traditional barriers associated with obtaining court records, reducing the need for courthouse visits and lengthy processing times while expanding public access to eligible documents.
According to Fort Bend County District Clerk Beverley McGrew Walker, often known as the "People's Clerk," the latest upgrade reflects the office's ongoing effort to modernize services and improve transparency for county residents.
"The launch of Phase II reflects our continued commitment to leveraging technology to improve public service and provide secure, efficient access to court records for all constituents," Walker said.
What Fort Bend County Residents Can Expect
The new E-Certify enhancements are designed to make the document request process more user-friendly while maintaining appropriate safeguards for sensitive information.
Among the new features available through the system are:
-
Document Preview Capability: Users can preview court documents of up to 50 pages before purchasing copies.
-
Same-Day Certified Copies: Certified documents are delivered electronically on the same day they are purchased.
-
Secure Attorney and Party Access: Attorneys and authorized parties may securely access eligible unredacted documents through a dedicated online portal.
-
Improved Search and Access Tools: The updated system helps users identify and obtain documents more efficiently through a streamlined digital process.
For many Fort Bend County residents, these improvements could save valuable time by allowing court-related transactions to be completed from home, the office, or any location with internet access.
Expanding Government Accessibility Through Technology
The modernization effort aligns with a broader trend among local governments across Texas to provide more digital services that improve convenience while maintaining public access to government records.
Court documents are often needed for a variety of purposes, including legal proceedings, property matters, business transactions, background documentation, and personal records. The ability to obtain certified copies electronically can help reduce delays and improve efficiency for both residents and legal professionals.
While the system expands online access, some records will continue to be restricted in accordance with state law, court orders, confidentiality requirements, standing orders, or other legal limitations. Certain case types and documents may not be available for viewing or purchase through the online platform.
