Katy Christian Ministries Spreads Holiday Cheer Through 'Santa’s Sleigh' Initiative
As we step into the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, Katy Christian Ministries (KCM) is rallying residents in the Katy area to give a helping hand to community members in need. The non-profit organization's "Santa’s Sleigh" initiative offers a much-needed lifeline for active clients of KCM Social Services who are embarking on the holiday season amidst a financial crisis.
KCM Social Services, the core of Katy Christian Ministries, is dedicated to providing balance for families wrestling with financial difficulties, helping them maintain routine necessities like shelter and electricity. These struggles often make celebrating Christmas a challenge for these families. With programs such as Santa's Sleigh, KCM sets out to reignite hope and joy into the hearts of these families for the holiday season.
Katy Christian Ministries, a multifaceted non-profit, plays a considerable role in fortifying the Katy and West Houston communities. From its Social Services Department— providing emergency financial aid and resilience programs— to its Food Pantry devoted to eliminating hunger, KCM takes a comprehensive approach to servicing the community. The non-profit also runs a Crisis Center that includes a Domestic Abuse Center and a Sexual Assault Center, while resale stores and donation centers generate much-needed funds for these invaluable services.
In 2023, the Santa's Sleigh initiative brightened Christmas for 2,830 children and seniors by providing them with holiday gifts and this year, locals willing to participate in the initiative can lend a hand with ease. Prospective donors can adopt a child or senior by filling out an online form, before being matched with a recipient by a volunteer from the organization. The volunteer will then provide the donor with all the necessary details about shopping for the recipient, packaging, labelling the items, and the drop-off procedure.
