JoyRide Center Prep Day Program Explores Tomball Fire Station
The JoyRide Center Prep Day Program recently embarked on an exciting adventure to Tomball Fire Station #1, accompanied by eight enthusiastic members. Led by personnel from Tomball Fire Rescue, the Police Department, and Public Works, the visit was an enriching experience for all involved.
The day kicked off with Tomball Police picking up the members and transporting them to Fire Station #1 in police vehicles, adding an extra element of excitement to the journey. Upon arrival, they received a warm welcome from firefighters, police officers, and Public Works staff.
Throughout the day, the members enjoyed a series of engaging activities and demonstrations. They had the opportunity to witness firefighters in action, donning full gear and showcasing their equipment. A tour of Ladder 1 provided insights into the daily operations of the fire station.
Additionally, the members explored various Public Works vehicles, including a dump truck, bulldozer, utility cart, and riding lawn mower. The Police Department offered insights into the inner workings of a squad car and transport vehicle, enhancing the educational experience.
The event concluded with a delightful lunch of burgers and hotdogs prepared by Tomball Fire, fostering camaraderie and shared memories. As the day came to a close, the members bid farewell to their hosts and were transported back to JoyRide Center by police vehicles.
The JoyRide Center Prep Day Program, part of the wider JoyRide Center, provides invaluable experiences and opportunities for adults with disabilities.
