Join the Living Legacy Center's Annual Coat Drive: Bringing Warmth and Hope to Vulnerable Families in Cy-Fair This Winter
As winter approaches, the importance of warmth and comfort becomes critical, especially for the most vulnerable. The Living Legacy Center (LLC), a nonprofit organization on mission to support the Cy-Fair community, has announced its annual coat drive, aiming to provide the necessary warmth to those in need this season.
The LLC plays a vital role in connecting families with essential legal and social services, effectively bridging critical gaps in support. Positioned as a central hub within the community, it serves senior citizens, veterans, and individuals with both physical and intellectual disabilities. Additionally, The Living Legacy Center is home to a thriving community garden that provides fresh produce to local food pantries and individuals, with opportunities to volunteer throughout the year.
The center's coat drive is more significant than ever, as a recent study by the National Center for Education Statistics has found that 11.2% of families in the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD fall below the poverty level. These vulnerable families, including children, are most in need of such initiatives to meet their basic needs during the colder seasons.
The coat drive provides the perfect opportunity for the community to participate in the spirit of giving. Some simple ways to contribute include:
- Cleaning out your closets and donating gently worn coats
- Purchasing used coats at garage sales, local resale shops, and discount stores to donate
- Organizing a coat drive with your homeowners association (HOA) to involve your neighbors
All sizes and styles of coats are welcome and can be dropped off by October 15, 2024 at The Living Legacy Center at 12527 Cypress North Houston in Cypress during business hours, Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 2 PM.
The Living Legacy Center invites the Cy-Fair community and its neighbors to unite in an act of love and compassion. Let’s work together to ensure that no family has to endure the cold this winter.
