Join the Community Spirit: Volunteer for the Katy Rice Harvest Festival
The call is out for volunteers to help bring one of Katy's biggest community events to life. The Katy Rice Harvest Festival, set to take place on October 12 and 13 at 901 Avenue C. in Katy, is currently seeking enthusiastic individuals ready to roll up their sleeves and contribute to the success of the much-anticipated event.
With a history steeped in tradition, the Katy Rice Harvest Festival celebrates the rich cultural heritage and community spirit of Katy. This year's festival promises a wide range of attractions, including 150 vendor booths offering unique crafted items, a wide variety of food trucks, live music performances, cooking and art contests, and a demo cooking show. On top of that, children and teenagers can look forward to an expanded zone packed with activities such as obstacle courses, interactive games, and bounce houses.
In an effort to share the city's prosperity with those in need, all net proceeds from the festival will be funneled back into the community via scholarships and donations to nonprofit organizations and charities, courtesy of the Rotary Club of Katy.
The festival organizers have made a conscious effort to ensure ease of access for festival goers by bolstering parking facilities, establishing new routes, and providing free shuttle service to and from the Merrell Center throughout the festival. Added incentives are also being offered for those who opt for rideshares.
The success of any community event is largely attributed to its volunteers, and the Katy Rice Harvest Festival is no exception. Registration is now open for anyone interested in volunteering, with roles available across various committees. Each individual must apply separately and committee assignments are subject to availability and the number of applicants. Appreciation night for volunteers, vendor load-in, and operational run-throughs will be held on October 11.
