Join Horsepower & Brews at Sam Houston Race Park: A Day of Classic Cars, Craft Beer, and Support for Veterans
The Sam Houston Race Park is gearing up to welcome gearheads, craft beer buffs, and philanthropists for a memorable event, Horsepower & Brews, proudly presented by Penn Heroes. This unique event will showcase an impressive collection of vintage and classic cars at the Pavilion and Paddock Apron, alongside a lively atmosphere of live music by Buck Yeager and Daniel Lynn, craft beer tasting featuring 10 Houston-area craft breweries, a stein holding competition, and live horse racing from 1:00 to 5:00 PM.
Proceeds from this car show will go to support U.S.VETS Houston, a local chapter of the national U.S.VETS organization dedicated to ending veteran homelessness in the United States. Since its opening in 1997, the organization, founded by veterans for veterans, has supported over 127,000 veterans through transitional, emergency, and permanent supportive housing, as well as mental health and substance use treatment, services for veteran families (SSVF), case management, and career services.
U.S.VETS' comprehensive support is offered at Veterans Village in the Willowbrook area, which opened in 2023 after renovating a former hotel to accommodate 130 veterans. Additionally, U.S.VETS Houston operates a service center on Griggs Road, near the Medical Center.
This year is particularly special as it marks U.S.VETS's 30th anniversary, with the organization notably being awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor Society’s 2023 Community Service Award. Such recognition is a testament to their dedication towards demonstrating the values of courage, sacrifice, citizenship, integrity, commitment, and patriotism.
Car show registration is open with a fee of $25. Each registration includes 2 GA tickets, 2 drink tickets, 2 bottles of water, a dashboard number, a ticket box, and a venue map. Limited spaces are available for display with only 75 (10’ x 20’) spots throughout Paddock and Pavilion Apron up for grabs. Participants can pick up their packet on Friday, June 7th between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM or on the day of the show from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Be a part of this exciting event and stand a chance to be awarded the “People’s Choice Trophy” and the “Sam’s Choice Trophy” after the 9th race of Sam Houston Race Parks, approximately around 4:30 PM. Note that vehicles should be loaded in by 12:00 PM and not be started during the racing time, which is between 12:30 PM and 5:00 PM. All vehicles should be loaded out by 6:00 PM.
