Jennifer Collier Named Next Principal of Tomball Memorial High School
Tomball ISD is excited to announce Jennifer Collier as the next Principal of Tomball Memorial High School. She will take over for Dr. Jeff Bailey, who will assume the new role of School Leadership Officer in Central Office. This change will take effect on July 1, 2024.
"We are excited for Jennifer Collier to be the next Principal at Tomball Memorial High School," said Dr. Mindy Munoz, Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Schools. "In her short time here in Tomball ISD, she has strategically elevated TSA and leveraged opportunities for students and staff to grow and succeed. She will be a great fit at TMHS with her extensive secondary school leadership experience coupled with her focus on student success. She is joining a very passionate and supportive school community that understands the importance of exceeding in all ways. We know she will make an immediate impact at TMHS and we look forward to her continued success as a campus leader in Tomball ISD."
Collier joined Tomball ISD shortly after being named the 2023 H-E-B Excellence in Education Secondary Principal of the Year for Texas from Spring Branch ISD, where she has served as Principal of Spring Woods High School since 2016.
During her time leading this comprehensive high school, she was named the 2020 and 2023 Spring Branch ISD Secondary Principal of the Year and a nominee for the H-E-B Excellence in Education Secondary Principal of the Year four of the last five years, with the top honor coming in 2023. She brings over 20 years of experience to education, specifically at the secondary level.
Prior to her stint as Principal at Spring Woods High School, Collier served as the Director of Westchester Academy for International Studies. In this role, she was responsible for instructional programming and coaching and saw great success as the leader of one of the top-ranked charter schools in Texas.
Before taking on this Director role, she spent time as the Associate Principal (2011-2013) and Assistant Principal (2008-2011) at Spring Woods High School. Not only does Collier bring an extensive background in campus leadership but as an Assistant Band Director at the middle school level (Spring Forest Middle School, 2005-2008; Memorial Middle School, 2003-2005) as well.
She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Lamar University, her Master’s degree in Education Administration from the University of Houston.
Despite having spent only one year in Tomball ISD, Jennifer is no stranger to the TMHS community. She and husband, Nate, have been residents of the Tomball community for years. They have two children, Jackson and Allie, who have attended Tomball ISD schools since 2016, specifically Wildwood Elementary, Oakcrest Intermediate, Willow Wood Junior High, Grand Lakes Junior High, and now Tomball Memorial High School.
What was intriguing about becoming the campus leader at TMHS?
“I was excited about the opportunity to lead Tomball Memorial High School because of its tradition of excellence and its amazing campus culture. As a parent, community member, and educator; I have watched and experienced the impact that TMHS can have on students and families with awe and excitement. I am thrilled to be a part of the Navy Empire in this new role and look forward to continuing to support and celebrate the amazing things that are happening at Tomball Memorial.”
What is it about education that you love so much?
“What I love about education is the opportunities that it provides for students to achieve their goals and succeed in life. I love that as an educator, I can be a part of a community that creatively and strategically removes and pushes through barriers with and for children so that they can be their most successful version of themself. The ability to see a student transition from high school, to college, and then into a career is such a special time, and I love that I work in a profession that builds and creates the future.”
What can the TMHS school community expect of you as their leader?
“As the leader of TMHS, you can expect visibility, clear communication, and a continued focus on academic excellence and school pride. My goal will be to continue to support, push and celebrate students on their journey through high school while helping them find their next step after they leave TMHS. I believe that involvement is key, and I will push students to find a group that they connect with to ensure that their time at TMHS is both memorable and positive. You will also see me involved in the community, engaging all stakeholders to ensure that TMHS continues to be a destination for excellence and success.”
