Jarrell ISD Families Can Leave Their Mark on 110 Years of History With Legacy Brick Walkway
For generations of Jarrell families, the school district has been more than a collection of classrooms and campuses. It has been a place where children grew up, friendships formed, teachers left lasting impressions and families built connections that often stretched across decades.
Now, as Jarrell Independent School District celebrates its 110th anniversary, the district is giving families a way to make those connections part of the community’s physical history.
Jarrell ISD is developing a Legacy Brick Walkway at the historic 1916 Building, where engraved bricks will recognize students, graduates, educators, staff members, families, businesses and others who have helped shape the district over the years.
And the walkway itself will carry a piece of Jarrell ISD history.
Historic Bricks Will Become Part of Jarrell ISD’s Future
The Legacy Brick Walkway will be constructed using authentic Mexia bricks salvaged from the interior of the original 1916 Building.
The bricks were preserved as part of an effort to honor the people and generations connected to Jarrell ISD, giving the anniversary project a direct link to the district’s past rather than creating something entirely new.
The first set of engraved Legacy Bricks has already arrived and will eventually be placed in the walkway in front of the historic building.
For longtime Jarrell families, that means a personalized name or message can become part of a place built with materials that have already witnessed more than a century of local education and community change.
Who Can Purchase a Jarrell ISD Legacy Brick?
The Legacy Brick Walkway is open to a wide range of people and organizations with ties to Jarrell ISD.
Current and former students, alumni, parents, grandparents, employees, former staff members, families, friends, community members and local businesses are all invited to participate.
An engraved brick can be used to honor a family’s connection to Jarrell ISD, recognize a student or graduate, thank a teacher or educator, commemorate a staff member, or recognize a business or organization that has supported the school community.
For families whose Jarrell ISD story spans multiple generations, the project also creates a way to preserve a family name at one of the district’s most historically significant locations.
How Much Does a Jarrell ISD Legacy Brick Cost?
Individual engraved bricks are available for $40.
Each individual brick may include up to three lines of text, with a maximum of 45 characters including spaces.
Businesses can participate through a $200 Corporate Sponsor Engraved Brick, providing local companies and organizations with another way to show support for Jarrell ISD and its 110-year history.
All engraving requests are subject to review and approval by Jarrell ISD. The district may deny or modify requested wording when necessary to ensure inscriptions are appropriate for a permanent public installation.
A Small Piece of a Much Larger Jarrell Story
Projects like the Legacy Brick Walkway carry a different meaning in communities where school history and family history often overlap.
A graduate may choose to preserve a class year. Parents might recognize their children. A family could honor a teacher who made a difference. A local business may choose to acknowledge decades of support for Jarrell schools.
Individually, each brick tells a small story. Together, they are intended to create a lasting record of the people behind Jarrell ISD’s growth from its early years to the district families know today.
The setting adds another layer of meaning. By placing the walkway at the historic 1916 Building, Jarrell ISD is connecting the anniversary tribute directly to one of the district’s most recognizable links to its past.
How to Order a Legacy Brick
Jarrell ISD has separate online order forms for individuals and businesses interested in purchasing engraved bricks.
Families and community members can place an individual Legacy Brick order through Jarrell ISD’s RevTrak system, while businesses can use the district’s Corporate Sponsor Legacy Brick order form.

With the first engraved bricks already arriving, families still have an opportunity to add their names or recognize someone meaningful before the walkway continues taking shape.

The Legacy Brick Walkway is ultimately about more than marking an anniversary.
It gives Jarrell ISD families a way to connect the people who built the district’s past with the students and educators carrying it forward.
