Jarrell ISD Educator Dr. Jessica Blevins Honored with Statewide Teaching Award from Humanities Texas

In a moment of well-earned recognition, Dr. Jessica Blevins of Jarrell Middle School has been named one of the twelve statewide recipients of the prestigious 2025 Humanities Texas Outstanding Teaching Award. Chosen from more than 800 nominees, Dr. Blevins was honored for her exceptional leadership, innovative teaching practices, and lasting impact on students.

The award, presented in partnership with U.S. Representative John Carter, shines a spotlight on educators who are transforming classrooms and empowering the next generation through the humanities. It is one of the highest distinctions a Texas teacher can receive in this field and affirms the important role humanities education plays in cultivating critical thinking, empathy, and civic understanding in young minds.

Humanities Texas, a nonprofit affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, works across the state to promote history, literature, philosophy, and other subjects in the humanities. Through its annual Outstanding Teaching Awards, the organization honors exemplary educators at the elementary, middle, and high school levels who demonstrate excellence in teaching and a commitment to enriching their school communities. Each year, award recipients are selected based on nominations from administrators, colleagues, students, and community members.
