Jarrell ISD Board of Trustees to Meet March 25: Key Topics Include Bond Construction Update, Budget, and Student Outcomes
Residents of Jarrell and surrounding communities will have the opportunity to hear updates on major district initiatives and future school planning when the Jarrell Independent School District (Jarrell ISD) Board of Trustees meets on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 6:30 p.m.
The regular board meeting will take place at the Jarrell ISD Administration Building, located in the historic 1916 Building at 504 N. 5th Street in Jarrell, Texas, where trustees will review district finances, hear updates on student success initiatives, and consider action related to a new elementary school planned through the district’s 2023 bond program.
For families, homeowners, and taxpayers in Jarrell ISD, these meetings serve as an important window into decisions that affect local schools, district growth, educational resources, and long-term planning for the rapidly expanding community.
Recognizing Students and Community Engagement
The meeting will begin with the Call to Order and Establishment of a Quorum, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the American and Texas flags.
One of the early highlights will be the Cougar Champions recognition, a regular agenda item celebrating students and individuals making a positive impact across Jarrell ISD schools.
Community members will also have an opportunity to address trustees during the public comment portion of the meeting. Jarrell ISD notes that audience participation is limited to this designated portion of the meeting. Individuals who bring concerns before the board may be asked whether the issue has already been addressed through district policy procedures for employee, student, parent, or public complaints.
Financial Reports and District Operations
Several routine governance items will be reviewed under the Consent Agenda, including approval of previous meeting minutes, financial reports, check registers, and budget amendments.
Trustees will also examine:
- Purchases exceeding $50,000, including EdElements services and instructional materials
- Principal reports
- District enrollment updates
- Police Department criteria reporting
These items provide a snapshot of the district’s operational health and help board members monitor spending, campus needs, and student population trends across Jarrell ISD.
Updates on Student Success, Special Education and College Readiness
During the Communication and Informational Items portion of the meeting, several district leaders will present updates tied to student achievement and academic programs.
Superintendent Dr. Toni Hicks will provide district updates, followed by several presentations focused on educational priorities, including:
- Student Outcomes, Student Voice and Athletics presented by Laura Buckley and Coach Haire
- Texas Senate Bill 568 Special Education Update presented by Tiffany Weiss
- College, Career and Military Readiness (CCMR) initiatives presented by Kelly Blair and Alison Martone
- A district budget update presented by Robert Navarro
These updates help trustees and the community track how Jarrell ISD is supporting students both academically and through extracurricular opportunities while preparing them for post-graduation pathways.

2023 Bond Program and New Elementary School Planning
Growth remains a key focus for Jarrell ISD, one of the faster-growing school districts in Central Texas. During the meeting, trustees will receive a 2023 Bond Program update from Sledge Engineering, the firm assisting with project planning and implementation.
Board members will also consider an important action item related to future school capacity: the selection of a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) for Atlas Ranch Elementary School.
The project is part of the district’s long-term strategy to accommodate enrollment growth and maintain manageable class sizes as new neighborhoods and families continue moving into the Jarrell area.
Instructional Materials Certification
Trustees will also consider approval of the 2026–2027 Certification of Provision of Instructional Materials, presented by Laura Buckley.
This annual certification confirms that the district will provide students with the instructional materials and resources required under Texas Education Agency guidelines.
Closed Session and Personnel Matters
Later in the meeting, trustees may enter a closed session in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act to discuss matters permitted by law, including:
- Personnel considerations
- Real property transactions
- Discussion of roles and duties of public officers or employees
If necessary, the board will return to open session to take action on items discussed, which may include personnel employment decisions, resignations, or additional staffing positions.
Looking Ahead: Upcoming Budget Workshop
Before adjournment, trustees are expected to discuss upcoming meeting dates, including a Jarrell ISD Budget Workshop scheduled for April 1, 2026, at 6 p.m., followed by the next regular board meeting on April 15, 2026, at 6:30 p.m.
