Jarrell ISD 2023 Bond Update: New Schools Open, Millions Saved, and More Growth Ahead
For families in Jarrell ISD, the 2023 Bond isn’t just a line item on a ballot from three years ago — it’s now visible in new classrooms, improved safety features, expanded career pathways, and facilities designed to support one of the fastest-growing communities in Central Texas.
As Jarrell continues to experience record growth, district leaders say the bond program is not only expanding capacity but doing so responsibly. To date, Jarrell Independent School District has saved approximately $13 million through strategic purchasing, contract negotiations, and donated land — a significant win for local taxpayers.
From new elementary schools to career and technical education facilities, the bond is reshaping how students learn and how staff are supported across the district.
Major Milestones: Schools and Facilities Now Open
Jarrell Ranch Middle School
Opened in August 2025, on time and $1.2 million below budget
Jarrell Ranch Middle School welcomed students this past fall with expanded classroom space, modern learning labs, collaborative areas, and updated student amenities. Designed to support both academic growth and social development during the critical middle school years, the campus reflects the district’s long-term planning to accommodate enrollment growth in Jarrell ISD.
District Operations Center
Opened August 2025, on time and $600,000 below budget
The new 28,000-square-foot District Operations Center brings facilities, custodial services, and transportation together under one roof. By building on district-owned land near Jarrell High School, the district saved nearly $2 million.
The facility includes a bus wash station, on-site fuel pumps that reduce transportation costs, multiple bus repair lifts, and space for professional development. District leaders say consolidating departments improves efficiency and ensures faster service to campuses.
Jarrell High School Expansion – Phase 1
Completed Fall 2025
Phase 1 of the Jarrell High School expansion introduced a new front entrance with a larger, more secure vestibule for families and visitors, along with expanded administrative offices, counseling space, and a nurse clinic.
Students now have access to a state-of-the-art library featuring additional book space, testing flex areas, private breakout rooms, and a digital media room. The project also added a new AG Barn with classroom space, larger animal pens, and a show ring — enhancing the district’s agricultural science program.
Fine Arts facilities were improved, and additional classrooms were added to accommodate increasing enrollment.

Jarrell High School Expansion – Phase 2 (Under Construction)
Construction is now underway on a new Career & Technical Education (CTE) building and gymnasium. The CTE facility will provide hands-on learning in high-demand career pathways, helping students graduate with industry certifications and workforce-ready skills — a growing priority for Texas school districts preparing students for both college and careers.
The new gymnasium will provide expanded space for athletics and competitions as student participation continues to grow.
Coming Soon: New Elementary Schools and Staff Support Facilities
Berry Creek Elementary School
On track to finish early and $500,000 below budget
Berry Creek Elementary School is scheduled to open in August 2026 and will serve families in the southern portion of Jarrell ISD. The land for the school was donated to the district, saving $4 million.
The campus will offer updated classrooms, enhanced safety features, and dedicated learning spaces for young students. Lara Hutchinson was recently named principal, and attendance zone updates are expected in the coming months.
For families asking when Berry Creek Elementary School opens in Jarrell ISD — the answer is August 2026.
Paw Prints Childcare Facility
On track for completion this summer
Through the 2023 Bond Program, Jarrell ISD is also investing in its staff by building a new Paw Prints on-site childcare facility for employees. The building repurposes the district’s former central office on land already owned by the district, saving approximately $2 million.
Providing childcare for teachers and staff is intended to strengthen employee support and retention, offering convenience and peace of mind for working families.
District leaders emphasize that when educators feel supported, students benefit — and the broader Jarrell community grows stronger.
Atlas Ranch Elementary School
Preliminary work underway
Atlas Ranch Elementary will become Jarrell ISD’s fifth elementary school and is being constructed within the Atlas Ranch planned community. The land was donated by Matt Michelsen of Atlas Ranch, saving the district $2.8 million.
Huckabee Architects have been selected for the design, with schematic plans expected by summer. The school is scheduled to open for the 2027–2028 school year.
Responsible Growth in a Rapidly Expanding District
Jarrell ISD continues to rank among the fastest-growing districts in Williamson County and Central Texas. With that growth comes the challenge of building schools that are not only functional today but adaptable for the future.
District officials note that every project within the 2023 Bond was planned with long-term value in mind — balancing expansion with financial stewardship.
From donated land totaling nearly $6.8 million in savings to operational efficiencies and under-budget construction, the district reports total savings of about $13 million so far.
For taxpayers and homeowners in Jarrell, those savings represent careful planning during a time of significant expansion.
