Residents interested in Jarrell’s business growth, future development priorities and use of local economic development funds may want to follow a special meeting scheduled for Wednesday, July 22.

The Jarrell 4A Economic Development Corporation Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Jarrell City Hall Council Chambers, 161 Town Center Blvd. The agenda includes the swearing-in of two newly appointed board members, the possible election of a board president and treasurer, and a workshop focused on the proposed Fiscal Year 2026-2027 JEDC budget.

For a growing community like Jarrell, the budget discussion could help shape which economic development projects and initiatives receive attention and funding during the coming fiscal year. While the agenda does not identify specific projects or proposed spending amounts, it calls for a review of projected revenues, expenditures and budget priorities.

JEDC Budget Workshop to Focus on Revenue, Spending and Future Projects

The central item on the July 22 agenda is a Jarrell Economic Development Corporation budget workshop for Fiscal Year 2026-2027.

According to the meeting notice, board members are expected to discuss projected revenues and expenditures, identify budget priorities and consider potential economic development projects and initiatives for funding. The board may also take action related to the proposed budget.

Economic development corporation budgets can affect how a city approaches business recruitment, commercial growth and other initiatives intended to strengthen the local economy. For Jarrell residents, those decisions may eventually influence the community’s retail options, employment opportunities, tax base and pace of development.

The workshop represents an early public look at the financial priorities under consideration, but the posted agenda does not indicate that any particular project has already been selected or approved.

New Board Members to Take Oath of Office

The meeting is also expected to mark a leadership transition for the Jarrell Economic Development Corporation.

Rusty Bryson and John Erwood are scheduled to be sworn in as newly appointed JEDC board members. The oaths of office are expected to be administered by Christi Herring.

Following the swearing-in ceremony, the board may discuss and take action on the election of a JEDC president and treasurer. Those positions help guide board meetings and provide oversight as the corporation considers economic development spending and long-term priorities.

Other listed board members are Dr. Toni Hicks, Tim Jordan and Stephanie O’Brien. Councilmember Tanya Clawson serves as an ex-officio member.

Residents May Address the Board

Public comments are included near the beginning of the meeting agenda.

Residents who want to speak about an item listed on the agenda must complete a speaker form and submit it to the assistant city secretary before the meeting begins. Comments are limited to three minutes.

The board will not hold a discussion or take final action during the public-comment portion itself, according to the meeting notice.

What Happens Next

The July 22 workshop is expected to give the JEDC board an opportunity to review financial projections and begin aligning its spending plan with Jarrell’s economic development goals for the next fiscal year.

Because the agenda broadly references potential projects and initiatives without naming them, residents may learn more during the public discussion about which priorities board members believe could best support Jarrell’s continued growth.
