Hurricane Beryl Recovery Update from Your Harris County Precinct 3 Commissioner

Hurricane Beryl hit communities across Precinct 3 hard, and some are still without power. Your Harris County Precinct 3 Commissioner, Tom Ramsey, and his team want you to know that they are here for you and committed to helping you recover.

From day one, Precinct 3 teams been on the ground, working tirelessly to clear your roads and provide essential supplies during the power outages. Precinct 3 community centers have been open, offering food, water, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and charging stations. Precinct 3 crews have been diligently cleaning up debris from your streets. Here’s a look at Precinct 3's recovery efforts so far:

Recovery Totals

Debris Removal

  • 47,000 cubic yards of debris removed (equivalent to 3,917 dump trucks)
  • Opened six debris drop-off sites. Click here for a list.

Distribution Event at Trini Mendenhall on Tuesday, July 16

  • 1,512 cases of water
  • 768 MREs
  • 2,880 bags of ice

Distributions to Community Centers and Residents in Need

  • 4,404 pallets distributed (Monday, July 8, through Saturday, July 13)

Drive-Thru Distribution at Crosby Community Center

  • Enough supplies to feed 5,000 people (Saturday, July 13)

Parks Update

Mercer Botanic Gardens will reopen today, July 17. All open parks have resumed normal hours and programming. Some parks may have limited amenities, including nonfunctioning restrooms, due to power issues.

Rio Villa Nature Park remains closed until further notice.
 
 
Community Center Food Distribution

All Precinct 3 Community Centers continue to distribute water and non-perishables while supplies last. All community centers except Vera May Community Center have resumed normal hours. To learn more about Harris County Precinct 3 community centers, visit pct3.com/Explore/Community-Centers. Note that Juergen's Hall is the only community center in Cypress that is run and maintained by Harris County Precinct 3. There are other nearby community centers, which are operated and maintained by Harris County Precinct 4.

Due to power issues, May Community Center will close after supplies run out. All programming at this center is canceled until further notice.
