How to Help Katy Christian Ministries’ Operation Easter Bring Joy to Families in Need
Katy Christian Ministries (KCM) is once again hosting Operation Easter, a heartwarming initiative that provides Easter baskets, goodie bags, and a festive celebration for families in need throughout the Katy area. This annual program, now in its seventh year, ensures that children from low-income families can experience the joy and excitement of Easter, thanks to the generosity of the community.
The Mission Behind Operation Easter
Founded in 2018 by Katy resident and KCM volunteer Nanette Kitchen, Operation Easter was created with the vision of spreading happiness to families facing financial hardship. Over the years, the initiative has grown, with local churches, businesses, and residents rallying together to donate toys, candy, and other basket essentials. Last year alone, over 400 Easter baskets were distributed at a special event hosted at the Mark A. Chapman YMCA in Katy, which featured an Easter egg hunt, food, and family-friendly games.
“Easter should be a time of renewal and joy, but for many families in our community, it’s a season of uncertainty. Katy Christian Ministries’ Operation Easter brings hope by providing children with Easter baskets filled with treats, toys, and surprises,” said Virginia Gonzalez, Executive Director of KCM.

How the Community Can Help
KCM is once again calling on local residents, schools, offices, and civic groups to help make this Easter special for hundreds of children. Whether through monetary donations, purchasing items from KCM’s Amazon Wishlist, or organizing workplace and group donation drives, every contribution helps bring a smile to a child’s face.

More Than Just Baskets: A Celebration of Hope
Beyond delivering Easter baskets, Operation Easter creates a day of celebration for families served by KCM’s Social Services and Crisis Center programs. Children and parents alike can enjoy a safe, fun-filled event complete with activities that foster community connection and encouragement.
