October 18 2022

Houston Repertoire Ballet (HRB), Houston’s premier pre-professional ballet company, celebrates its 27th season, beginning with its 24th annual performance series of The Nutcracker, featuring professional guest artists Leah Slavens Haggard as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Mark Krieger as the Cavalier, and Joseph Modlin as Herr Drosselmeyer, with the Cypress Philharmonic directed by Glynnes Lanthier.

Performances are Friday, December 2 at 7 pm; Saturday, December 3 at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM; and Sunday, December 4 at 1:00 PM and 4:30 PM at the Tomball High School Theatre, located at 30330 Quinn Road, Tomball, Texas 77375. For ticket information, call 281-940-HRB1 (4721) or visit www.hrbdance.org. Tickets are $20 for students/seniors and $25 for adults.

HRB’s Outreach program, dubbed “The Nutcracker Experience,” is back, and will include three Arts & Education shows, provided completely free to all Tomball ISD third graders, fulfilling the arts component of their curriculum. This program also provides third grade participants from Tomball, Decker Prairie, and Rosehill elementary schools free shoes, attire, costumes, and lessons/rehearsals. The participants will also have the opportunity to perform alongside company dancers in the three school performances, for an audience of their peers comprising more than 1,500 Tomball ISD third graders.

Major funding is provided by James Avery Jewelers, the City of Tomball, and Texas Commission on the Arts. Additional season sponsors include Air Innovations LLC, Dave Metcalfe Photography, Dance Trends, Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, and Kluge Tennis Center.
