According to the US National Weather Service Houston-Galveston Texas, a Heat Advisory has been issued for SE TX on Tuesday, July 9 with heat index values up to 106°F, creating dangerous conditions due to the widespread loss of power and A/C.

Local officials and community leaders in Houston are stepping up to provide critical resources to residents. Harris County Precinct 4 has announced the opening of three cooling centers on Tuesday, July 9, from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. The centers will serve as places for residents to escape the heat, recharge devices, and access free Wi-Fi. Here are their locations:

The Community Assistance Division can be contacted at 832-927-4444 for additional details. More information can also be found on the community centers' webpage at cp4.harriscountytx.gov/Community-Centers.

In addition, four other community centers in Harris County Precinct 3 will distribute food and water supplies on July 9, remaining open during regular hours (8 a.m. - 8 p.m.):

These centers are facing power issues and will close after supplies run out:

Along with these community centers, additional locations across the Greater Houston Area have opened their doors in partnership with the City of Houston as cooling centers for the general public in need of a respite from the heat on Tuesday, July 9:
