HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress Opens New $100 Million Patient Tower, Expanding Inpatient and Rehabilitation Care for Cypress Community

March 10 2026

As Cypress and the surrounding northwest Harris County communities continue to grow, access to nearby healthcare services is becoming increasingly important for local families. That need is prompting a major expansion at HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress, where a new $100 million North Patient Tower is scheduled to open this month, adding new inpatient capacity and expanded clinical services to the hospital campus.

Hospital leaders say the project is designed to support the region’s rapid population growth while helping ensure residents along the U.S. 290 corridor in Cypress can access hospital-based care closer to home.

The hospital will mark the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and community open house on March 16, offering residents an opportunity to see the new facility and learn more about the services being added.

What the New North Patient Tower Adds for Cypress Patients

The newly completed North Patient Tower at HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress introduces 54 additional inpatient beds and new clinical spaces intended to support both patient care and hospital operations.

Key additions include:

  • 23-bed Acute Rehabilitation Unit, designed to help patients recover from surgery, serious illness or injury through specialized therapy and rehabilitation programs

  • 31-bed Medical Surgical Unit, expanding inpatient capacity for patients requiring medical and surgical care

  • Expanded Central Sterile Processing Department, which supports surgical services by ensuring equipment and instruments are properly sterilized and ready for procedures

These additions aim to improve patient flow and operational efficiency while allowing the hospital to accommodate a larger number of patients.

“The opening of the North Patient Tower marks an important milestone in our commitment to improving more lives in more ways,” said Jim Brown, CEO of HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress. “As our community grows, we are expanding with it, increasing access to high-quality, compassionate care close to home."

From Groundbreaking to Opening: A Major Milestone for Cypress Healthcare

The opening of the North Patient Tower follows a community groundbreaking held in 2024, marking the transition from planning and construction to expanded patient services.

The project represents part of a broader investment by HCA Houston Healthcare in the Cypress area. Since acquiring the hospital in 2018, the healthcare system reports reinvesting more than $200 million into the local community, including facility upgrades and this latest expansion.

When plans for the tower were first announced, hospital leaders indicated the expansion would help address growing healthcare demand as residential development continues throughout Cypress, northwest Harris County and nearby communities along Highway 290.

About HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress

Founded in 2006 by local physicians, HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress serves residents across Cypress and the northwest Houston region as a 163-bed general acute care hospital.

The hospital provides a wide range of services including:

  • Heart and vascular surgery
  • Neurological care
  • Orthopedic services
  • Oncology care

It also operates an accredited Chest Pain Center, a Bariatric Center of Excellence, and holds DNV certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center.

Today, the hospital is part of HCA Houston Healthcare, a network of 13 hospitals across the Greater Houston area that collectively serve more than one million patients annually.

"The addition of the tower enhances our capacity, supports our physicians and care teams, and advances the exceptional patient experience our community expects and deserves. This investment reflects our long-term commitment to clinical excellence, innovation and meeting the healthcare needs of our Cypress community,” said Brown.

Supporting a Growing Cypress Community

Healthcare infrastructure often expands alongside population growth, and Cypress is one of the fastest-growing regions in the Greater Houston area. New residential developments, schools and businesses have continued to emerge across the Highway 290 corridor, bringing thousands of new residents to the region in recent years.

Hospital leaders say the new patient tower is intended to help keep pace with those changes by expanding local inpatient services and providing additional rehabilitation care options within the Cypress area.

For residents and families, projects like this can reduce the need to travel longer distances for certain hospital services while strengthening healthcare access closer to home.
