For Hays CISD families who cannot make it into the stands, following local high school sports just became easier. The district’s Hays CISD Student Broadcasting Network, known as the StuBro Network, is providing free live streams of all Hays CISD home varsity football games this season, including the inaugural Buda Bowl between Hays High School and Johnson High School.

The broadcasts give parents, grandparents, alumni and other community members another way to keep up with Hays CISD athletics from home or on the go. Viewers can find the games through the Hays CISD StuBro Network YouTube channel at youtube.com/@HCISDstubronetwork/streams.

Hays High and Johnson High Meet in Inaugural Buda Bowl

The Buda Bowl brings together two Hays CISD programs with deep connections to the same community. Hays High School and Johnson High School both call Buda home, making the varsity football matchup a district contest with plenty of familiar faces on both sidelines and in the stands.

Both schools are in the middle of five-game home schedules for the 2026 football season, according to information published by Hays CISD. Student Broadcasters Bring Hays CISD Sports to the Community

There is another local story happening behind the cameras. Rather than limiting its online coverage to football, the Hays CISD Student Broadcasting Network plans to stream select varsity, junior varsity and middle school sporting events throughout the school year.

That means the broadcasts can serve two purposes at once. Hays CISD athletes get additional community exposure, while students involved with the StuBro Network gain experience producing coverage of real events for a public audience.

The expanded streaming option also makes Hays CISD sports more accessible to relatives who live outside the area, families juggling multiple activities on the same night and community members who simply cannot attend every game in person. The district’s athletics pages for both Hays High School and Johnson High School include dedicated links for athletic event broadcasts, reflecting the growing role of online coverage in following local teams.
