Harris County Precinct 4 Calls for Volunteers to Aid Affected Families in Continued Hurricane Relief Efforts
In the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, Harris County Precinct 4 has faced massive power outages, leaving thousands stranded in harsh conditions. In response to this grave situation, Commissioner Lesley Briones and the team at Precinct 4 have been providing aid to the affected families, serving nearly 2,000 families at two distribution sites just this past Wednesday.
The scale of this disaster has necessitated the expansion of relief efforts within Precinct 4. Consequently, the demand for volunteers has grown at these distribution sites. Food, fresh produce, and potable water are amongst the resources that need to be distributed to those affected by the hurricane.
In an effort to keep up with the increased demand, a distribution site will be operational at Bayland Community Center, located at 6400 Bissonnet St, Houston, TX 77074 on Friday, July 12. The distribution will run from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with volunteers requested to arrive an hour prior at 7:00 AM.

Volunteering at these sites will involve a 4-hour shift spent outdoors. To accommodate for the heat, shade tents will be provided, along with water and snacks. Physical capability is a prerequisite, with each volunteer expected to be able to lift at least 10 pounds. Volunteers should dress appropriately for the outdoor conditions, wearing athletic clothes and closed-toe shoes.
Interested volunteers can register by visiting this registration link. Post-registration, a confirmation email will be sent out the afternoon or evening prior to the volunteering day. This email will include crucial information such as parking details, day-of expectations and other relevant data. The Precinct 4 team strongly encourages those able to lend a helping hand during these trying times to step forward and assist their community.
