Harris County Precinct 3 Launches Santa Paws Drive to Help Shelter Pets This Holiday Season

November 07 2025

As the holiday season kicks into high gear, Harris County Precinct 3 is asking residents to remember some of the county’s most vulnerable: the homeless animals at Harris County Pets. Through a heartwarming new initiative called the Santa Paws Christmas Drive, Precinct 3 is teaming up with Harris County Pets and Friends of CountyPets to collect much-needed supplies for shelter dogs and cats through December 10, 2025.

This is the first year of the Santa Paws donation drive, and local leaders hope it will become an annual tradition of generosity. From blankets and toys to cleaning supplies and pet food, every donation helps make life a little more comfortable for the animals awaiting their forever homes.

A Season of Giving for Four-Legged Friends

Harris County Pets, operated by Harris County Public Health, provides veterinary and shelter services to thousands of stray, abandoned, and surrendered animals each year. Beyond caring for pets, the organization also supports pet adoptions, vaccinations, microchipping, and community outreach.

During the holidays, resources are stretched thin. That’s why community support through initiatives like Santa Paws is so meaningful.

“This is our FIRST YEAR hosting our Santa Paws Christmas Drive partnering with Harris County Pets, and we need your help to make it a massive success,” said organizers from Precinct 3. “Let’s fill the sleigh with holiday cheer!”
