Harris County Precinct 3 Celebrates Major Milestone with Holderrieth Road Widening Project in Tomball
Harris County Precinct 3 recently accomplished one of its most considerable capital improvement projects with the successful completion of the Holderrieth Road Widening Project.
Holderrieth Road, which was formerly a two-lane roadway, has now been transformed into a four-lane concrete boulevard, stretching from Highway 249 to a point just west of Hufsmith-Kohrville Road. This massive $31.4 million project doesn't just mean an expanded roadway, but nearly 2 miles of the road are now lined with a 5-foot-wide sidewalk. Additionally, a new traffic signal has been set up at the intersection with S. Cherry Street, and the storm sewer has been improved as well.

Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom S. Ramsey, P.E., shared some insight into the planning and execution of the project. He stated, "Our Precinct 3 team of engineers assess the needs of our roadways from trends in traffic volume and flow to the need for additional drainage and pedestrian access." He also added that Holderrieth Road serves as a main artery through the Tomball area, expressing his hopes that drivers will now enjoy a smoother road and better commute.
Regular commuters using this stretch of Holderrieth Road, located east of Highway 249, have started noticing improved traffic flow towards nearby businesses and neighborhoods. It's worth noting that this infrastructure development was made feasible through a funding partnership with a Community Development Block Grant facilitated by the Harris County Housing and Community Development Department.
