The costs for this camp is fully covered by a generous contract awarded by the Harris County Commissioners Court, according to a release.
“It is essential that we continue serving our students during the summer,” said Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner Lesley Briones. “The Precinct 4 summer camps will provide comprehensive programming for students who otherwise might not have access to summer enrichment activities and will support working families by providing a safe, constructive environment for their children. I’m proud to partner with Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston to create opportunities for children to thrive.”
With this funding, the Boys & Girls Clubs are able to offer nine full weeks of enriching, structured, full-day programming at these centers, at no cost to the public, for up to 200 young people. Dubbed "Club Radack," the camp will take place from June 3 through August 2, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The activities planned include literacy and math tutoring, social-emotional learning, leadership and citizenship coaching, athletics, dance, and art, with program sessions and activities lasting 30 to 60 minutes each.
