Fulshear Police Warns Residents of Misleading Donation Request

October 19 2023

On Thursday morning, the Fulshear Police Department issued a warning to Fulshear area residents about a misleading donation request associated with a site called "Citizens Behind the Badge." According to the Fulshear Police Department, is appears that the organization in question may be sending solicitations for donations via U.S. mail under misleading or false pretenses.

"While we believe they may be supporting law enforcement and their noble efforts, it's essential to exercise caution when making donations online or by mail (in this case) and verify exactly where you donation will be going," said a representative with the Fulshear Police Department.

The postcard show below, which was shared by the Fulshear Police Department on their Facebook page, shows the use of the word “Fulshear Police” twice. The Fulshear Police Department wants residents to know that they are not associated with this program or business in anyway, and the funds that they solicit do not directly impact the Fulshear Police Department.

"We encourage you to be vigilant and responsible when it comes to making charitable donations online. If you have any doubts about a specific donation request or organization, please feel free to reach out to your local authorities or a consumer protection agency for guidance," said a representative with the Fulshear Police Department.

The Fulshear Police Department encourages residents to remember that there are many legitimate and deserving causes in need of support, and by staying informed, you can make a positive impact on the causes you care about.
