Free Wellness on Wheels Event Brings Health Screenings, Vaccinations and Pet Care to Remington Ranch Families in North Houston This Saturday
Families in Remington Ranch will have an opportunity this weekend to access essential healthcare services, free food resources and even pet wellness support—all in one place—during the Wellness on Wheels mobile health event hosted by Harris County Public Health.
The free, family-friendly event will take place Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Community of Faith Church, located at 1024 Pinemont Dr #100, Houston, TX 77091. Organized through a partnership between Harris County Public Health (HCPH), Harris County Precinct 1 Commissioner Rodney Ellis, The Community of Faith Church, The Common Market and The Rose Center for Breast Health Excellence, the initiative is designed to make healthcare and wellness resources easier for families to access close to home.
For many residents, especially those facing transportation barriers or healthcare access challenges, events like this bring important preventive care directly into the community.
Free Health Screenings and Preventive Care for Houston Residents
Attendees will have access to a wide range of free health services for adults and children, including breast and cervical cancer screenings, dental checkups, vaccinations, lead poisoning testing, and HIV and STI testing. Community members can also receive referrals to additional healthcare providers and educational information on topics such as chronic disease management, food and water safety and gun violence prevention.
All services will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and most activities will take place outdoors in the church parking lot. Organizers encourage attendees to dress comfortably and prepare for warm spring weather.
Commissioner Rodney Ellis emphasized that expanding access to healthcare resources directly within neighborhoods helps strengthen families and improve long-term community health.
“Healthcare is a human right, and every family deserves access to care, food, and the support they need to live well, no matter their ZIP code,” said Ellis. “Wellness on Wheels brings those resources directly into the community, from dental checkups, screenings, and vaccinations to fresh food and even veterinary support."

Pet Care, Free Food and Family Activities
In addition to healthcare services, pet owners can bring their dogs and cats for free rabies vaccinations and microchipping through Harris County Pets in partnership with BARC, the City of Houston’s open-admission animal shelter. The pet services portion of the event will serve up to 50 pets, with a limit of two per household, so organizers recommend arriving early. Pets must be leashed or safely confined.
To help support families facing food insecurity, free food boxes from The Common Market will also be distributed while supplies last.
The event also includes music, face painting and other family-friendly entertainment designed to make the day both informative and enjoyable for residents of all ages.
"We’re also excited to host our Bike Rodeo, which gives kids a chance to get active, build confidence, and learn how to ride safely. That’s how we create healthier families and stronger neighborhoods. Come join us,” said Ellis.
Bringing Healthcare Resources Directly Into Houston Neighborhoods
Harris County Public Health, the local public health agency serving Harris County, regularly partners with community organizations to expand access to preventive care and health education across the region. Programs like Wellness on Wheels aim to remove common barriers to healthcare—such as transportation, cost and awareness—by delivering services directly where families live.
By combining health screenings, food assistance, pet wellness support and community activities in one event, organizers hope to help residents start 2026 with stronger health habits while connecting neighbors with valuable local resources.
Remington Ranch residents interested in attending can simply arrive during event hours. Additional updates about Wellness on Wheels and other Harris County Public Health initiatives are available at hcphtx.org and through the agency’s social media channels.
As communities across Harris County continue focusing on wellness and prevention, events like this highlight how local partnerships can help bring practical health resources directly to families, including those who need them most.
