Four CFISD Water Polo Teams Advance to Regional Tournaments
Four CFISD water polo teams advanced past the regional quarterfinal round of the Class 6A playoffs and move on to their respective regional tournament, while the girls’ teams from Cy-Fair and Cypress Woods high schools and the boys’ teams from Cypress Ridge, Cypress Ranch and Cypress Woods high schools concluded their seasons and finished as regional quarterfinalists.
The Cypress Creek High School girls’ water polo team defeated Cy-Fair High School to advance to the Region III-6A Tournament, to be held Oct. 22 at the CFISD Natatorium. The Cougars will meet Round Rock at 10:30 a.m. and are among four CFISD teams still alive in the postseason.On the boys’ side, Cypress Creek defeated Cypress Ridge, 29-1.
The Bridgeland High School girls’ water polo team defeated Spring Branch ISD’s Memorial to advance to the Region II-6A Tournament, to be held Oct. 22 at Houston Lamar High School. The Bears will meet Brazoswood at 9 a.m.The Region II-6A championship game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students and can be purchased through the Houston ISD athletics website. All tickets sold at the door will be $7.
The Cypress Creek High School boys’ water polo team defeated Cypress Ridge High School to advance to the Region III-6A Tournament, to be held Oct. 22 at the CFISD Natatorium. The Cougars will face Austin High School at 1:30 p.m.The Region III-6A girls’ championship game is scheduled for 3 p.m., while the boys’ regional championship is scheduled for 5 p.m.
Tickets are $10 each for adults and students and can be purchased through the CFISD Athletics website’s tickets page utilizing the Aquatics button.
Regional champions will advance to the inaugural University Interscholastic League Water Polo State Tournament, to be held Saturday, Oct. 29 at North East ISD’s Josh Davis Natatorium (12002 Jones Maltsberger Road) in San Antonio.
The Cypress Woods girls were defeated by Richmond Foster, 22-4. The Wildcats were District 17-6A’s third seed and finished as regional quarterfinalists.
The Cy-Fair girls were District 17-6A’s fourth seed and finished as regional quarterfinalists.
The Cypress Woods boys were defeated by Richmond Foster, 24-6. The Wildcats were District 17-6A’s third seed and finished as regional quarterfinalists.
The Cypress Ranch boys were defeated by Strake Jesuit, 20-7. The Mustangs were District 16-6A champions and finished as regional quarterfinalists.
The Cypress Ridge boys were District 17-6A’s fourth seed and finished as regional quarterfinalists.
