Behind every emergency response, traffic stop, inmate welfare check, and community safety initiative is a team of professionals dedicated to serving others. Earlier this month, the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office took time to recognize those efforts during a Promotions and Awards Ceremony celebrating employees whose careers and actions have made a meaningful impact on public safety across the county.

Held June 4 at the Gus George Law Enforcement Academy, the ceremony highlighted both career advancement and acts of service that went above and beyond normal job responsibilities. Family members, colleagues, and community leaders gathered to honor employees who have demonstrated leadership, courage, and commitment throughout their careers.

Promotions Recognize Years of Service and Leadership

Several members of the Sheriff's Office received promotions in recognition of their professional accomplishments and dedication to the agency.

New Sergeants Announced

Among those promoted was Elizabeth Martinez, who began her career with the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office in 2015 after attending the Gus George Law Enforcement Academy. During her tenure, Martinez has served in multiple assignments, including the Housing Division, Inmate Processing Unit, and as a Court Bailiff. She is also the first female selected to the Justice Center Rifle Team and holds both Advanced Peace Officer and Advanced Jailer licenses.

Kenisha Brown was promoted to sergeant after building a distinguished law enforcement career that includes service with the Houston Metropolitan Police Department, Fort Bend County Precinct 4 Constable's Office, and the Sheriff's Office. Brown has served in both Patrol and Traffic Division assignments and holds advanced certifications in crash reconstruction and vehicle forensics analysis.

Nicholas Hall also earned promotion to sergeant. Hall joined the Sheriff's Office in 2018 and has served in both Patrol and Detention divisions. A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Hall brings more than two decades of combined law enforcement and security experience to his leadership role.

Jason Bulman was promoted to sergeant after nearly two decades of service. Before entering law enforcement, Bulman served in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. Throughout his Sheriff's Office career, he has worked in Patrol, Air Support, and the Toll Road Unit while earning numerous specialized certifications and becoming a member of the agency's Firearms Team.

Detention Division Leaders Recognized

The ceremony also recognized several employees advancing into supervisory roles within the Detention Division.

Leon E. Miles was promoted to Detention Civilian Supervisor. Miles brings nearly 30 years of corrections experience, including two decades with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice before joining the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office.

Justin Wheeler earned promotion to Detention Civilian Supervisor after serving with the agency since 2014. During his career, Wheeler has served on the Special Response Team, worked as a Field Training Officer, and received recognition for helping save an inmate's life.

Cooper Wolff was also promoted to Detention Civilian Supervisor. Since joining the Sheriff's Office in 2019, Wolff has served on the Special Response Team, worked in the Inmate Processing Unit, and assisted in managing critical jail incidents while helping save the lives of multiple inmates.

Employees Honored for Lifesaving and Exceptional Service

In addition to promotions, Sheriff Eric Fagan presented commendations recognizing employees whose actions exemplified excellence, valor, and dedication to others. The awards acknowledged personnel who made significant contributions through lifesaving efforts and outstanding public service.

Recipients included Grants Coordinators Dr. Tracy VanWright and Katina Scott, Sergeant Anthony Jambrik, Deputies Malcom Wyche-Ortiz, Mason Koehler, Marcus Herrera, Stephan Gee, Omar Lucio, and Gerard Argao, along with Civilian Officers Aaron Lopez, Dalton Perez, and Vincent Gonzalez. Several members of Wellpath Health Services were also recognized, including Durelle Cardiff, Kellie Moran, Whitney Rejcek, and Jessica Arismendez.

Recognizing Those Who Serve the Community

Sheriff Eric Fagan said honoring employees remains one of the most rewarding aspects of his role.

“One of the greatest privileges of serving as Sheriff is recognizing the exceptional people who make this agency what it is,” said Sheriff Fagan. “These recipients have distinguished themselves through their dedication, character, and commitment to excellence. Their service makes a difference in the lives of others, and this recognition is well deserved.”

As Fort Bend County continues to grow, the Sheriff's Office remains on the front lines of protecting residents, responding to emergencies, and maintaining public safety. Ceremonies like this provide an opportunity to recognize the individuals whose daily efforts often take place behind the scenes but have a lasting impact on the community they serve.
