Fort Bend County Hosts Special Passport Fair Ahead of Spring Break Travel Surge

February 03 2026

As Spring Break approaches and summer travel plans take shape, Fort Bend County residents are being offered a timely opportunity to prepare for international adventures without the hassle of long waits or last-minute stress. On Saturday, February 7, 2026, Fort Bend County District Clerk Beverley McGrew Walker will host a special Passport Fair to help residents obtain their U.S. passports with greater ease and convenience.

The event will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the Fort Bend County Justice Center, located at 1422 Eugene Heimann Circle in Richmond. Attendees should enter through the main entrance and proceed to the first-floor Jury Assembly Room.

Appointments are required and can be booked online at www.fbctx.gov/passports. Walker encourages residents to review all application requirements, fees, and documentation needs on the site beforehand to ensure a smooth process. All applicants must appear in person, including minors, who must be accompanied by both parents or legal guardians with proper authorization documentation.

“The Fort Bend County District Clerk's Office continues to offer passport application services to the greater Fort Bend County Community,” said Beverley McGrew Walker, known by many as the People's Clerk. “As the Fort Bend County District Clerk for the last seven years, making it easier to obtain a passport and improving the jury selection process has always been a labor of love.”

A Community Service Timed for Travel Season

The timing of this Passport Fair couldn’t be better. According to the U.S. Travel Association, more than 58% of Americans plan to travel during spring break season, with international destinations like Mexico, the Caribbean, and Europe topping the list. In Texas alone, airports including Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental and Hobby Airport see significant spikes in passport-related inquiries and processing delays as families prepare for their March and summer getaways.

Furthermore, AAA’s 2025 Travel Outlook indicated that nearly 72% of U.S. adults plan to take at least one trip this summer, and international travel is expected to increase by 15% over the previous year.

With passport processing times currently averaging 6-8 weeks for routine service and 2-3 weeks for expedited service, Fort Bend County’s community-focused passport event offers a valuable head start for families and individuals gearing up for travel.

Applicants should bring all required documents, including proof of citizenship and valid identification. Special considerations are in place for minors under the age of 16, who must be present with both parents or legal documentation as outlined by the U.S. Department of State.

Whether you're planning to explore ancient ruins, visit family overseas, or relax on a beach abroad, this Passport Fair may be the easiest way to get one step closer to takeoff.
