Five Below Plans New Bear Creek-Area Store at Park Plaza Shopping Center Along Highway 6
A fast-growing national retailer known for affordable, trend-forward merchandise is preparing to join the retail mix at Park Plaza Shopping Center in the Bear Creek area of Houston. Renovation plans are underway for a future Five Below location at 4705 Highway 6 North, signaling continued investment and momentum at the shopping center.
According to permitting details, the project will involve renovations to a 9,663-square-foot retail space. Construction is expected to begin in January 2026 and conclude by July 2026, with an estimated project cost of $500,000. The work includes landlord upgrades and interior improvements to ready the space for Five Below’s retail layout.
A Familiar Name in Value Retail
Founded in 2002 in Wayne, Pennsylvania, by David Schlessinger and Tom Vellios, Five Below has grown into one of the country’s most recognizable value retailers. Headquartered in Philadelphia, the company now operates more than 1,900 stores across 46 states and is publicly traded on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol FIVE. Average store sizes hover around 9,000 square feet, aligning closely with the planned Bear Creek-area location.
Five Below built its reputation on offering “the newest, coolest stuff” at accessible price points, with most items priced between $1 and $5. In recent years, the brand has expanded its assortment through its “Five Beyond” concept, introducing select items priced above $5 while maintaining its value-driven identity.

The upcoming Five Below will join other recent additions at Park Plaza Shopping Center, including EōS Fitness and Burlington, reflecting a broader transformation along the Highway 6 corridor near Bear Creek. The combination of fitness, apparel, and value retail is helping reposition the center as a more active neighborhood shopping destination for surrounding communities.
Beyond retail growth, Five Below also emphasizes community giving. Since 2006, the company reports donating more than $60 million through customer donations and fundraising efforts to organizations such as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, and Toys for Tots.
