February Events at Rosenberg Railroad Museum Offer All-Ages Adventure and Hands-On Fun
All aboard for a month of discovery, imagination, and community fun at the Rosenberg Railroad Museum, where February’s calendar is packed with engaging programs for train lovers, families, and curious minds of all ages.
Nestled in the heart of historic downtown Rosenberg, this beloved museum has long been a hub for learning and leisure in Fort Bend County. Opened in 2002 and dedicated to preserving the rich rail history of the region, the Rosenberg Railroad Museum features full-scale railcars, hands-on exhibits, a model train room, and a charming blend of historic and modern-day attractions. Throughout the year, the museum offers programming that blends education with entertainment, making it a treasured destination for school groups, scouts, and families alike.
This February, the museum’s event schedule rolls full steam ahead with a mix of unique offerings. One of the headliners is Dino Fun Day, happening February 22 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Families can explore the curious connection between dinosaurs and trains through interactive exhibits like a fossil dig pit, volcano experiments, a dino seek-and-find, crafts, games, and more.

Little ones are also in for a treat with Wig Wag Playtime sessions, creatively themed around trains and dinosaurs. On February 10, the “I Love Trains” edition will feature a sweet Valentine's celebration with dance videos, candy, crafts, and a reading inside the historic Garden Car exhibit. Then on February 27, it’s time to “Roar!” with a dino-themed version featuring fossil crafts and prehistoric play.
For the budding engineers in your life, Choo Choo Vision offers a behind-the-scenes look at railroads through the eyes of an engineer. Visitors can stop by the Model Train Room on February 7 or 22 between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to explore the train layout with enhanced visuals and a unique perspective. This feature is included with general admission.
February is also the last chance to register for the American Heritage Scout Merit Badge Workshop on February 7, designed to help scouts explore national heritage through the lens of railroading history. Registration closes February 4 and space is limited.

Looking ahead, the museum is also gearing up for its biggest fundraiser of the year—the Roaring Good Time Gala—set for March 28. This 1920s-themed, adults-only evening promises live jazz from the Brazos River Brass Band, dinner under the pavilion, silent and live auctions, casino play, and dancing, all in support of museum exhibits and programming.
As a cultural gem in Rosenberg, the museum continues to deliver experiences that connect generations through the power of history, storytelling, and play. Whether you’re a lifelong rail enthusiast or just looking for a fun weekend activity with the kids, the Rosenberg Railroad Museum invites you to come aboard for a February full of learning, laughter, and locomotive magic.
