Fort Bend Transit Launches Fan Express Service to FIFA World Cup 2026™ Fan Fest in Houston
As the FIFA World Cup 2026™ brings global attention to the Houston region this summer, Fort Bend County residents will have a convenient way to join the excitement without navigating tournament traffic or downtown parking challenges.
Fort Bend Transit (FBT) has introduced the FBT Fan Express, a dedicated transportation service connecting Fort Bend County directly to the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Fan Fest in Houston. The service is designed to make it easier for residents and visitors alike to participate in one of the world's largest sporting events while reducing transportation headaches on match days.
For many families, soccer fans, and community members throughout Sugar Land, Richmond, Rosenberg, Missouri City, Fulshear, Katy-area Fort Bend communities, and beyond, the service provides a practical option for enjoying the festivities surrounding the World Cup while leaving the driving to someone else.
A Convenient Ride to the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Fan Fest
The FBT Fan Express operates from the AMC Theater First Colony Park & Ride lot, located at 3301 Town Centre Boulevard South in Sugar Land.
Riders simply park at the designated lot and board a bus displaying "Fan Express" on its electronic destination sign. No reservations are required, making the service accessible for both residents and visitors who decide to attend the Fan Fest on short notice.
Fort Bend Transit officials note that seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis aboard 40-passenger buses.
The service is available to anyone interested in attending the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Fan Fest, regardless of whether they live in Fort Bend County.
Houston Match Schedule Brings International Soccer to the Region
Houston is one of the host cities for the FIFA World Cup 2026™, with several highly anticipated matches scheduled throughout June and July.
The Houston match schedule includes:
- June 14 at noon — Germany vs. Curaçao
- June 20 at noon — Netherlands vs. Sweden
- June 26 at 7 p.m. — Cabo Verde vs. Saudi Arabia
- July 4 at noon — Round of 16 Match
With thousands of visitors expected to travel throughout the region for matches and Fan Fest activities, transportation planning has become an important consideration for many local residents.
What Riders Need to Know
The Fan Express fare is $4 one-way, with payment accepted through exact cash fare or via the Token Transit mobile ticketing app.
Passengers paying with cash should note that drivers cannot provide change.
Those using the mobile app must show an active pass when boarding. Because commuter passes remain active for only one hour after activation, Fort Bend Transit recommends riders wait until their bus arrives before activating their pass.
Children over the age of five are required to pay the full fare.
Riders should also carefully review FIFA's security and prohibited items policies before traveling. Fort Bend Transit cannot store personal belongings or prohibited items and cannot guarantee passengers will return on the same bus they used for their initial trip.
Officials encourage attendees to monitor the official FIFA World Cup 2026™ website as additional Houston-specific Fan Guides and event information become available.
Planning Ahead for Match Days
While the Fan Express offers a convenient transportation option, riders should be aware that parking availability at the AMC Theater First Colony lot is not guaranteed.
Individuals who choose to park at the facility do so at their own risk. Fort Bend Transit does not assume responsibility for loss, theft, or damage to vehicles or personal property.
Passengers who miss the final return trip from the Fan Fest will need to arrange their own transportation back to Sugar Land.
Checking the Fan Express schedule before departure and allowing extra travel time on match days can help ensure a smoother experience.
Accessible Transportation for the Community
Fort Bend Transit continues its commitment to providing safe, reliable, and accessible transportation services throughout the county. The agency offers reasonable modifications to policies, practices, and procedures to ensure individuals with disabilities can access programs and services without discrimination.
