Experience Living History at Wunderlich Farm
Nestled in Northwest Harris County, Wunderlich Farm offers a unique opportunity to experience a quiet oasis that showcases the rural heritage of the early Klein community and families is preserved.
The Wunderlich family was part of a large number of German families who settled in the Klein area in the last half of the 1800s. Political conditions in Germany were unsettled, land there was scarce, and the United States offered a new beginning. Here new immigrants found freedom and vast open spaces. In 1995, the Klein Historical Foundation converted the property into a museum to portray the way of life in Klein, Texas in the 1890-1925 era. With many furnished historical homes on the property, there are plenty of places to explore and take a step back in time.
In addition to the museum, Wunderlich Farm hosts many events throughout the year, including recurring events like Market and Museum Days and Little Farmer Friday. On Museum and Market Days, attendees are invited to step back in time as you shop local merchants at the only market on an actual farmstead in the area - free of charge. Shop local vendors under 150 year old trees on September 30, October 28, and December 2 from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM and after shopping, mingle with costumed interpreters and explore local history at the museum until 3:00 PM.
Formerly Fun Friday with Toddlers, Little Farmer Friday offers young children an opportunity to enjoy craft time, story time and an activity designed for Little Farmers that connects participants to the museum. Little Farmer Friday is offered on select, predetermined dates and reservations are required in advance. Keep an eye out on Wunderlich Farm's Facebook page for information about the next Little Farmer Friday program.
Seasonal events like their annual Fall Festival and Old Fashioned Christmas have become highly anticipated, community favorites among locals. On October 28, the community is invited to the Fall Festival from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM for unique shopping, games, food, acoustic folk music. To get in the Halloween spirit, Wunderlich Farm will be hosting their fifth annual Haunted Farmhouse event, with spooky evening tours of a truly haunted house on October 20, 21, 27 and 28 complete with K-2 meters. Then for some cheerful family fun, Wunderlich Farm will host their 10th annual Old Fashioned Christmas on December 2 from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM. Meet Kris Kringle, enjoy over 15 historical craft stations, children's choirs, food vendors, and plenty of shopping.
Other unique event offerings include historic dinners, school tours and even ghost investigation tours. Guests can even enjoy front row access to the real working farm at Wunderlich Farm with animal interactions. The museum is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM, with fourth grade field trips on Tuesday and Thursdays. Admission to Wunderlich Farm is just $5.00 per person, and kids ages three and under are free. Wunderlich Farm also offers annual memberships for $15.00 per person, which includes free weekday admission all year and several other perks.
