East Central ISD Invites Community to Help Name New High School Opening in 2028
As construction continues on a new East Central ISD high school scheduled to open in Fall 2028, district leaders are giving residents a unique opportunity to help shape the school's identity for generations to come.
East Central ISD is inviting students, parents, staff, alumni, and community members to participate in a public naming survey for the district's newest high school campus, a project made possible through the community-supported Bond 2025 program. The campus is currently under construction at Old Corpus Christi Road and Donop Road, between Calaveras Lake and Braunig Lake, and is expected to play a key role in accommodating the district's continued growth.
For families across the East Central ISD attendance area, the decision goes beyond choosing a name. The selected name will become part of the school's culture, traditions, and legacy, helping define how future students connect with their campus and community.
Why the New High School Matters
As East Central ISD continues to experience enrollment growth, the new high school is being built to help address overcrowding while expanding educational opportunities for students in the years ahead.
The project represents a significant investment in the future of the district, made possible through voter approval of Bond 2025. Once completed, the campus will serve thousands of students and become a central gathering place for academic achievement, extracurricular activities, athletics, and community events.
Because the school will serve generations of East Central families, district officials say community input is an important part of the naming process.
Five Proposed Names Under Consideration
A Naming Committee made up of parents, students, community leaders, and district staff recently reviewed potential campus names and narrowed the list to five recommendations for public consideration:
- East Central Lakeview High School
- East Central Summit High School
- East Central South Lakes High School
- East Central South High School
- South Central High School
The recommendations reflect themes that have become increasingly familiar throughout East Central ISD. Recent campuses including Tradition Elementary School, Honor Elementary School, Valor Middle School, and Victory Elementary STEM Academy have embraced concepts centered on character, achievement, pride, and legacy.
District leaders are encouraging residents to consider what identity and vision the new high school should represent as they cast their vote.
Community Voices Needed Before Summer Recommendation
The feedback gathered through the survey will help inform a recommendation that is expected to be presented to the East Central ISD Board of Trustees later this summer.
For many residents, this is an opportunity to leave a lasting mark on a school that will serve future generations of students and families throughout the East Central community.
Those interested in participating can review the proposed names and submit their vote online at my.thoughtexchange.com/scroll/180456613/welcome.
What Happens Next
After community feedback is collected, East Central ISD leadership will prepare a recommendation for consideration by the Board of Trustees. Once approved, the selected name will become the official identity of the new campus as construction progresses toward its anticipated Fall 2028 opening.
For families who have supported East Central ISD's growth and investment in public education, the naming process offers a chance to help define a new chapter in the district's history.
