Drainage Improvements to Bear Creek Village Subdivision Underway
June 13 2023
Last week, Harris County Precinct 4 held a groundbreaking ceremony for drainage improvements in the Bear Creek Village subdivision.
In partnership with the Harris County Flood Control District, Harris County Engineering Department and Harris County Utility No. 6, this project aims to improve street drainage and lower the flooding risk in the area.
During Hurricane Harvey, 1,396 single-family residences flooded in the subdivision, or approximately 60% of homes in Bear Creek Village, according to Lesley Briones, Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner. In response to the devastation caused by Harvey, the $20.2 million Recovery and Resiliency Division (RRD) project includes upsizing the storm sewer system, reconstructing driveways and street sections, and adjusting waterlines and sanitary sewer lines.
Preliminary construction began in May and aims to reduce the risk of flooding for the community.
