Dr. Salazar-Zamora to be Honored as the North Harris County 2023-2024 AAUW Outstanding Woman in Education
The North Harris County American Association of University Women has selected Tomball ISD Superintendent Dr. Martha Salazar-Zamora as its recipient for the 2023-2024 Outstanding Woman in Education Award.
The North Harris County AAUW will hold its annual Outstanding Women Awards Luncheon on Feb. 24, 2024 at Shirley Acres. Dr. Salazar-Zamora is among a selected group of local women honored for their efforts in the community, and will represent Tomball ISD as this year’s recipient in education.
“I am honored to be selected by North Harris County AAUW with the Outstanding Woman in Education award,” said Dr. Salazar-Zamora. “As a community, I’m proud we are collectively committed to supporting public education and are intentional about cultivating new opportunities for our students. Our vision is that ‘Tomball ISD students will lead in creating the future,’ and through community involvement and collaboration, we will continue to be the Destination all families are seeking.”
AAUW, established over 140 years ago, is a national organization dedicated to education and self-development for women. The North Harris County branch includes members from around the north greater Houston area including Spring, Tomball, and Cypress.
Dr. Salazar-Zamora continues to lead Tomball ISD as a fast-growth district and most recently was named a finalist for AASA National Superintendent of the Year while representing the State and Region 4 as the Texas Superintendent of the Year. She currently serves as TASA president-elect and will lead TASA as president in 2024-25. She is also the president of the Fast Growth School Coalition and vice president of The Council of Women School Executives. Dr. Salazar-Zamora is a past president and founding member of the Texas Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents and also serves on the TASA Commissioner’s Cabinet and on the executive committee of AASA. She is a member of the boards of trustees for both the Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce and the Hospital Corporation of America Tomball.
